Morning chaps

Firstly... i'm pleased to say my car is fixed and back on the drive as of this morning!

Untitled by irfan sardar, on Flickr

I've remained quiet as I wanted to get some factual things in here instead of turning these posts into a generic rant. Hopefully they can help others who I have no doubt are in similar positions. As above though it would help if most of the posts were read from circa page 3 to get a better idea of what the story was.

Last Monday I went to back to the dealers to get the adblue topped up on the loan car and to ask one last time what was happening with mine. I had a rejection letter in my hand ready and was prepared to take my money somewhere else. When they took my car back a day after the handover, they said they would repair mine, give it back and in the mean time order me a new one. I heard nothing for the 3 weeks hence why I was ready to rage last week.

As it turns out the sales manager informed me he had indeed ordered me an idenical new car. I asked to see the order as proof and sure enough he had ordered me a car a week earlier.. Due date is 27th April. Fantastic news. .Why he failed to tell me during the 3 weeks my car was there while I was pulling my hair out I never know. If he informed me of this then I wouldn't have written a letter of rejection!

He told me the update had been done on my car and I could have had it back the next day (last Tuesday). However I told him no, keep the car and use it yourself for the duration of the week as a) I don't want to come back yet again and b) it'll be even more embarrassing for LR if I do. The car has done 500 miles now (it went back to the dealers with 70!) but its not mine to keep so I'm not bothered.

so yes, picked the car up today and gave the demonstrator back, new one arrives end of April. Overall a RESULT at last.

While it is a result and without sounding ungrateful, no one should ever have to go through this when buying a new car regardless if its a RR or a Fiesta... Appalling but never the less we are back where we started which is good news.

I forgot how lovely the MY18 is. The presence it has and how luxurious it feels over the MY17 demonstrator is quite significant!

i cant believe I'm back here again

24 hours i've had this car and the radio has stopped working. it worked great yesterday and its just refused to come on this morning, both screens lit up but no signal showing on DAB (in the usual areas I travel where it works) and the same for good old fashioned FM.

note the reg. Who ever buys this car afterwards please take note in all this because I can see some unlucky person buying it.

So now they've taken me out of a 2017 demonstrator which is perfectly fine and I was very happy to use, into my black car which is great, now with no audio. What a waste of a £4k 1700watt system.

I just hope that my new one in April isn't plagued with this because I am so put off with this bull sheeite now.

Those who have had the software update for your screens please keep an eye on it for a few days as unless my car is a black sheep, it hasn't cured the problem. I still think its hardware as opposed to software but the dealer knows better.

Dear All

As you may recall, the 2018MY Range Rover Vogue 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography I paid a deposit on in late September 2017, has suffered several delivery date delays. Originally I was given an estimated delivery date of 31st January, then finally three date changes later, I ended up with a date in to retailer of 26th June 2018 (so 9 months in total from date of deposit paid).

As if this wasn't enough, reading Irfan's story (and others on different forums - he's not on his own) I decided yesterday morning to pull the plug and cancel my order...... My refunded deposit was back in my account by yesterday afternoon.

I do feel slightly disappointed, but then also slightly relieved - Life has enough headache's, I could just see that this was going to be more hassle than it was worth.

Never mind - Back to the drawing board......
Morning mate. that is very disappointing to hear.. that would have been a beautifully spec'd car!

how did LR take it.. were they reluctant to return the money or did they sort it with no issues?

Very difficult to decide on a replacement as generally the FF RR is the daddy. Despite questionable build quality and more importantly poor after care.. as said so many times LR probably don't give a monkey's because these cars just sell themselves.

Irfan,

Sorry to hear about all these issues.

We must have very similar taste in cars - are you running your C63 alongside the RRS?

I currently have a 2014 RRS and was planning to order a new one 2018 model, will think twice after this as mine has been pretty faultless

Is it worth the upgrade? Yours does look fantastic however

As an ex C63 owner, also looking to get a c36 507 edition to run alongside as the fun car smile
Hello mate,

yes I recognise your username from the Mercedes boards when I first bought the C63! I still have it alongside the RRS and a Transporter Sportline. Still a bit confused what to change the C63 to, its such a great all-rounder I just cant see it leaving anytime soon.

well I can actually compare the previous MY17 (which isn't a million miles off yours) and the new MY18 on the drive.

Putting my never ending problems with the dealer and car itself aside, Generally (when it works!), the MY18 car just feels so much more luxurious than the MY17. I have noticed that a few more bits and pieces are standard on the HSE now as opposed to the pre facelift HSE. This one is an Autobiography so it does have a huge spec as standard.

I'd say its due to the new pro duo screens which just clean the centre of the dash greatly - the lower screen for heating controls is a lot simpler to use that it may seem. The steering wheel has a silver metal bezel around it with the glass/touch buttons on the wheel which just adds to the classy feel. Window switchgear is a big upgrade from the MY17, these are metal and sturdy, the old ones felt a bit cheap. The ambient lighting is stunning and gently glows the whole cabin beautifully as opposed to the one LED hidden under the armrest in the old one!

I'm happy with all the options I chose - Laser headlights being top of the list, they are outstanding. Massage seats were a bit overkill but a nice gimmick, I love the Meridian Signature 1700 watt system. Soft close doors are nice, I seem to forget their there and still slam the doors which cant be good for the soft close mechanism.

I do find it a bit of a con that the prefacelift autobiographies had red brembo front callipers, the new autobiography does not and they are standard silver which is quite the let down and seems a sign of JLRL cost cutting..can always be done afterwards. Santorini black was standard on the pre facelift cars, on this one its a £750.00 option for whatever reason.

Generally speaking my car (like many others suffering with the same screen problems) had the software update before it was returned to me lastweek. It's been all good and well, then the Radio went off and refused to come back on, then the cruise control/auto stop start feature stopped working last week. Pull over, turn the car on and off and its fine.

New car arrives 27th April so this one will be off and sold on by JLR. I hope to the big man upstairs that the one works flawlessy and these issues are ironed out!

Either way I say go for it, get your order in now as I know the order lists are growing to May deliveries now - it'll be a massive upgrade to a MY14 as you will have the first gen Infotainment system too (which drove me nuts when I looked at used cars first!). Failing that, get a healthy discount on tjhe last of the MY17 cars that have a beefy spec.

Still here.

glad to see those with MY18 cars aren't suffering major issues, although I'm not at all surprised there are still issues found.

I've been using our MY18 car since we had it back from the dealer March time quite a lot. Screens are still tempermental, cruise control sometimes doesn't activiate, and the most annoying 'new' electrical gremlin is the car sometimes refuses to lock! It chirps the alarm to signal a door is still open but everything is closed tight. Soft close doors also not working everytime. I've decided the Meridian Signature 1700watt system is good, but not worth nearly £5k.

And still, when it all works, when its gleaming, there is literally no other car i'd rather be in on a daily basis. It looks and drives absolutely first class.

As mentioned previously, LR are replacing this car with an identical spec new one given the faults we've had. The replacement car should have been here by this weekend but I'm awaiting a call back from a few minutes ago to confirm this - I'm no real rush at the moment as the current car is still doing the job fine.

Staying positive, but I just hope these software issues are ironed out on this car otherwise its going back and I'm off with my money elsewhere!

still here...

a month later and still no sign of our replacement car. Bizarre new problems with the current car, DRLs refusing to illuminate on Auto lights setting, and the Meridian sound system acts like some sort of microphone lol. There is a speaker above the drivers head - every time I speak, my voice somehow get amplified through that speaker and comes through the rest of the car. If I flick the speaker with my finger it confirms the noise I'm making comes through all speakers - truly mad and I've never heard of any problem like that in my life.

Endless amount of calls over the last two weeks to the dealer and not once have the returned my calls - all I want is an update. Finally got though to them yesterday. Sales manager very sheepishly told me there's an issue with Land Rover UK buying back my car from the Cardiff Dealership, and claims he still needs time to fight this out with his HQ. Unfortunately I couldn't give a toss about this, this is not my fight and that is an internal issue to rectify. This was even the sales managers own words when we agreed on a new replacement car two months ago. He also informed me my shiny new car is actually sat at the dealership which pissed me off even more.

I'm waiting for an update from him by end of play today. if I don't get a call, or if I do and he's asking for more time to sort it - I will be absolutely having a refund on the full amount of the car. From here my options will be:

A) Take my money, place an order with another LR dealership for an identical car
B) Place an order with another LR dealership but change to an SVR (Little mileage done in the diesel makes me realise if I actually warrant having a diesel at all for shortish journeys)
C) Back to BMW, and buy a used approved X5m
D) Look at other options all together.

5 hours of the day left and I'm probably going to bet by Wednesday next week my car will be returned and I will be refunded. Forget the issues of the car - After everything since January their customer service is still literally non existent and even more infuriating.
