Hi all,

Coming up to the 1yr mark with the Evoque and the interim service.

With this being my first lease I'm not sure whether this has to be done through a main dealer or if it can be done anywhere else? If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Am aware of delaying this by a week or so to not have to do the 2nd year service

Thanks in advance

Check the terms of your lease. They may insist it's done at Land Rover.
FWIW it was cheaper for me to buy the 5 year service plan than pay for three individual services.
If the terms don't insist LR then you can use any VAT registered garage providing they use OEM parts.

Does the car tell you it needs a service?

Yes it comes up on the dash with remaining mileage before it's required.
Although be careful as it can randomly change the mileage from a couple of thousand to a couple of hundred in the space of hours.

Another JLR innovation.

So us the service fixed at 12 months or when it tells you?
Also I am assuming with all this lockdown I am not alone in being well under my mileage allowance, has anyone called there lease company to get payments adjusted for lower mileage?

Mine says it's when it tells you. There will be an indicator on the dash and on the app.

Ive spoken to Leasys, they confirmed the service needs to be done once a year. Also confirmed a local service center that uses official parts and fluids would suffice and keep the warranty intact. So no need to go to a main dealer which is good news?

Yes i understood the same from leasys, however i have just spoken to the main dealer who advised the evoque doesnt need a service at 12 months...they said it should only be 24months or 21k miles?!

so i told them the car gave me the countdown and now says oil service required, to which they said they will have a look at why it is doing that...

my gut feeling is that the main dealer is wrong...

Just been reading through the last few comments on servicing....what did everyone end up doing?

Rang the dealership to book in as our service light has come on (12 months, 7k mileage) and was advised that the first service is due at 24 months (£500 btw) and the service light shouldn't have come on...

So booked in next week to get it switched off!

Odd, i haven't had a warning or anything come up on mine.

13 months old, only just over 4k ! is it worth me booking in to service or wait until the warning appears?

ETA just phoned local Listers and not due until 2yrs 21k so must be on variable

Not servicing any car in the first 12 months of ownership is criminal.

The car clearly knows what it wants. smile

Great mine is 15 months old and only on 7k of the 20k allowance due to covid, looks like I may get away without service as it's a 2 year deal

Assuming your Evoque is a diesel, they have a oil dilution problem due to too many DPF regenerations, the car will calculate when the oil is too diluted and flag a service warning to get an oil change.

Disappointed the dealer is just planning to turn the service light off, but they may surreptitiously change the oil and filter without telling you (as Land Rover pay for the early oil change). Google Evoque or Discover Sport (same car) oil dilution.

Are you doing short journeys if so there could be oil dilution due to failed DPF regen and the oil and filter should be changed.
I had an oil and filter changed after 1k miles due to this!

Pretty mixed driving, wife does the school run but also takes it to work so gets a good 15 mins on an A road regularly too. Plus further trips out on the weekends pre lockdown. Not had any DPF warnings flash up so assuming those journeys were sufficient.

The master tech at LR told me that you had to do at least 30-40 mins once engine was up to temp this is in a RRS And mine has never had the amber warning straight to red and then it’s to late and must be forced regen by LR Assist or dealership.
I would never have a diesel LR again due to poor design of the regen system!

Haha straight to red, wow. Not had anything flash up until the oil service countdown after 12 months so just thought it was on a yearly interval and all was well with the DPF! Let's see what the dealer says once they've had a look on Friday!

Little update if anyone's interested...it was indeed oil dilution. Service manager called it straightaway and arranged a complimentary oil service.
