Yes, diagnosed as snapped crank. Dealer has agreed full refund which should be in my account this week.

Short but no so sweet. Good that you got a swift resolution though, too often these things seem to drag on and on.

Must be HSE, up to £20k, ideally not black. Black interior only. Don’t like black wheels. smile Must be the 8-speed.

This is sold, but would have been perfect:

What’s the deal with MotorEasy? Will they switch the warranty as a gesture of goodwill or have you sunk the cost?

They said when I took it out that it could be transferred to another vehicle at any time. Will be phoning them Monday!

The registration is virtually the same - 2 letters different at the end - so I hope there wasn’t a batch of chocolate cranks. Dealer was very good, proper Land Rover experts, they have done belts, new battery, loads of odds and ends, so fingers crossed!

Now that the refund is in my bank account, here's the (lightly redacted) invoice for the work done before I bought it. Naive of me perhaps to trust that the crank sourced by the dealer was fit for purpose.

The specialist I bought the second one from said that there are non-genuine cranks available but that you are better off with a used one from a write-off and that they will only ever do a full short engine.

Lesson learnt for me, hopefully documenting it here might help someone else in the future!

One more update in the interests of future folks looking for warranty info - Motoreasy transferred the warranty over to the new vehicle at no cost.

Fitted side steps this afternoon, and did our first “all the kids in the street will fit in” trip to the cinema yesterday.

hehe did the kids 5 a side (plus the sub) trip 2 days after I got mine, and collected some mint condition side skirts from Facebook yesterday.

I’ve seen a YT video showing it, but was it an easy fit from your PoV?

Pretty much, this is a good video, mentoning where some of the sill trim clips are replaced with the step bolts which is omitted from other videos:

https://youtu.be/hU2Wruv6hdg

I had to cut away a little more of the sill trim than the markings indicate to clear the front bracket, and the mounts needed a tweak with the hammer to get the step to sit down properly.

My kit didn't have nylock nuts or spring washers for the small nuts that hold the steps to the mounts, I will swap them over at some point as I could see those working loose.

It was a bit trial and error whether to fit the mount bolts below or side first, generally I would start with the ones underneath and fasten them loosely before doing the others.

Worth getting the trim tool to remove the clips under the car:

Impact gun or socket adapter for cordless drill also useful but still easy job by hand.

I reckon once you have done one, it's an hour a side tops.
