The dealer told me it was a straight six!
Your dealer sounds about as competent as my local one! I've never come across a set of sales staff so ignorant of the product they're selling, and so undeserving of whatever commission they're getting from my order!sooo I have a 110 for 2 days initial thoughts ( i have a disco 4 ):
hate the steering wheel. feels like styrofoam, isnt vertical enough and doesnt move far enough down.
hate the seats - have a dodgy back so very important and so far havent found a supportive spot.
hate the left foot rest - i cant stretch my leg out enough
hate the big cubby hole in the centre dash id rather have somewhere to put my phone, bacon sarnie etc
hate the windows - theyre too small its like driving a postbox it all feels very claustrophobic.
hate the high doors - i want to hang my arm out the window.
engine sounds quite rough although its smooth and stable at high speeds.
love all the cameras although that sort of thing is prob standard on most high end cars these days. cant see a lot out of rear view mirror due to the spare room so see why they have a camera there.
Screen feels quite far away although like its size.
Like the dash in general.
daughter loves the usb ports.
not sure about the looks i felt a bit of a tt driving it ( its full drug dealer spec ). Think it would be better when its muddy.
so looking at above its a no from me. having said that its growing on me! interesting the dealer said she hated it at first now loves it so will be interested to see how I get on tomorrow and what it feels like going back in mine.
to me it doesnt feel like a 70k car but will see

I was expecting you to say at the end that you'd ordered a 90....!hate the steering wheel. feels like styrofoam, isnt vertical enough and doesnt move far enough down.

Interesting…. My final spec was an all time record 68k for me, never spent close to that on a car before. And it certainly felt like a 68k car even in the lower specced 90 I had for half a day , .*but* not as if I’ve spent much time in other cars at that price range … and the last Merc I owned from new was a 2016 plate I think. And only a C class…
Am sure like you say a lot of the stuff that made me go “oooo” is available on other new cars: but don’t really see much out there that captures Family CideRed imagination like the 90.
Car I was going to get was a GLC 300de, hybrid. Probable 18 month old one, and was due to be next July. Better car for our needs in every respect .. just… just it’s a bit dull isn’t it ?
So competition for our family car money would have been a boring SUV, 1-2 years old to save a bit of money. In this sample of 1 shows I guess the value in creating something without obvious comparison…

I test drove the Defender 90 last week. Really impressed, and have been agonising all week whether we could replace our Range Rover with one. Unfortunately, I've come to the conclusion that we can't due to the lack of space, and not so easy access to the back seats, but I'm now thinking about getting the 110.
Question now is whether to go for the hybrid, or the V6 P400 engine. I'm impressed with everything I read about the V6, but have had a good experience with the hybrid in my Range Rover for the last 3 years. Has anyone got the Defender PHEV yet?
A key aspect that the family loved about the 90 we test drove, was the jump seat in the front. We will likely go for this, but I'm suspecting it won't be a good resale point as it means you cannot opt for the two extra seats in the boot. Anyone with a jump seat have any views? Would you spec it again?
I'm being quoted 6 months delivery by my dealer - these cars are clearly popular.

You'd be stepping down and it isn't a more complete vehicle?

Had a call on Monday, the car is on the boat! And only a few weeks since the letter saying there were massive delays! Happy days!
That’s great news, our dealer mailed yesterday, forecasting same build date in Oct, but did mention that it could be earlier. Hugo Stiglitz said:

Yeah, probably. It's just my kids love the Defender. And so do I. I think we're going to leave it though. If I can remotely justify it at some stage, I may get a fairly low spec' 90 to add to the fleet. You'd be stepping down and it isn't a more complete vehicle?
Drove RR and Defender 110 today on our usual Perthshire roads. RR a lovely place to be, but never quite as happy as I’d hoped it would be on backroads.
Defender was surprisingly refined, whilst still feeling utilitarian. It felt much more unfussed and focussed. 2nd hand, just into the dealer, I bought it.

That looks really great! Very encouraging as we have ordered the same wheels etc just in green. Can’t wait
I know it’s not the popular route but for me the small rims large tyre combo was unavoidable. They also have a slight dish which is nice. The ride is awesome too, especially out in the potholed countryside.
Look forward to seeing yours.
