Ordered a 130 First Edition yesterday - awaiting a notional delivery date.

Replacing our Defender 110HSE but had to go for a 1st Edition to get near trees level of spec we have just now on a 2020 HSE

Seems to be some spec changes on the LR configurator. I ordered an SE model (X Dynamic trim) which had the standard analogue dials with a small screen between them as standard at the time of ordering last December. It now shows the full screen display and the analogue dials as zero cost options but defaulting to the full screen option. Have emailed the dealer for clarification but he is away for the next couple of days.

Just looked at the configurator. Hopefully I’ll get the snazzy screen and dials for free then. Just priced my £62k car up again. Now just shy of £71k!,,,,

I’m so excited for this car. Classics have been sold or are at Brightwells next sale (see Vitesse) and this is going to be a hobby/family car.

Still delighted with my 110 D300 HSE…already up to 12,000 miles in 7 months.

Jings, we've only just passed 7,000 miles in 21 months in hours, our days of doing high mileages in 2 cars are long gone I think an thats even without the pandemic

Hope so Mike. When I ordered, the dealer told me a lot of cars were coming through with the smaller screen (unless it was standard as it is on the HSE ) - I’m sure it was a extra cost option when I ordered and at the time I was not too bothered but would actually prefer the digital version now.

I also don’t seem to see any mention of Meridien sound on the SE spec sheet so not sure if that’s been deleted.

My sales guy is back tomorrow so hopefully he can clarify these questions and I will post again here.

Just popped in as was passing with the tribe with me. Everything is still on for the 24th. Confirmed side steps by Vulkan at £245 inc VAT. Said they will fit for free for me.

Anyone else noticed that air suspension is now an optimal extra? The HSE comes with coils!

Hmm. There do seem to have been some significant spec changes going on and not all for the better. Hope to get clarity on this ASAP.

Has anyone seen the deal on Grange’s website? For a 90 S D200. I thought LR canned these a while back?

I don’t think they have sold D200 for at least 8 months. I’m not convinced they didn’t withdraw it for technical reasons after the issues experienced by the off roading father and son YouTubers in America. They couldn’t fix their car and flew techs in from across the world.

Slightly vague response from the dealer. They seem to think that the Driver Interactive Display (digital instrument screen) is now standard on the SE but they also claim the Meridian sound system remains standard fit although I could find no mention of it on the LR configurator.

They also could not confirm, with certainty, that I would be price protected!

My dealer has confirmed all my ordered spec and that the price is what I agreed in Nov 2021. Good news today, Direct Line confirmed my new Defender is going to cost 40% less to insure than my 64 plate RRS that it is replacing. I’ve ordered mine with the tracker and 12 month contract as it was required item for the RRS. DL have said I don’t need one to insure with them so hopefully that bodes well with regards to thieving toerag statistics.

How do you get in the back of the new 90 without losing all semblance of dignity?

You buy a 110 with back doors. With a 14 yr old who is over 6 ft tall and two dogs the 90 wasn’t an option for us.

For anyone who has a defender on order, it’s worth the wait and you won’t be disappointed. I’ve had a 110 d250 hard top as a courtesy car for the last week and it’s a spectacular vehicle.

Yes it’s not the original defender, however frankly it’s a better and more useable vehicle in every way. I’m starting to wish I’d ordered a 110 instead of the discovery…. O well, maybe next time!

Order one now and it will be ready for when you want to change!

I put a £1k no quibble refundable deposit with my dealer. It was good for me in case personal circumstances changed as it is a lot of money and I wasn’t financing it. You can always choose to take the money back if you change your mind then.

Just been informed that I now need to reorder and that Land Rover won’t be honouring the original price. So it’s now £4k extra for the same spec car that I ordered in December - just shy of £77k.

Really not sure what to do as I feel like I’ve been shafted but wherever I go I’m going to have to pay more and there’s still going to be a long wait.

Part of me thinks now isn’t the time to be buying as we go into what looks like what will be a pretty rough recession. I don’t need the car as my current car is only six months old and I absolutely love it (the Defender was ordered in case my wife didn’t like our current car). And if the downturn is as bad as ‘08 there may be some bargains to be had…..maybe. Otherwise I stick with my current car or go back to running older cars and save some money.

Truth be told, I think the only reason I’d keep the order placed is for the potential of flipping it if the prices stay high.

I’m not flipping. Just traded my RRS privately and the dealer offered me £75k for my Defender. Just paid for it and collecting tomorrow. It’s actually cost me £58605.00 in the end so that’s an offer 17 k over list. I’m not getting rid of it and looking to enjoy it. I’ll pop some pictures up tomorrow. I’m having to wait a week more for side steps in gloss black and big flaps …ohh er misses and will have to pay separately for them.

Not worried about recession as fortunately debt and mortgage free and have a few years good salary in cash at bank. Going to just enjoy the beast.
