New Defender 90 continues the tradition...
Discussion
To conclude; the rejection was accepted yesterday, financial outcome is that it is as if I never had the car.
The repair had also been making progress with a 'modification of one of the pillars' being carried out - which sounds very much like the fix mentioned by 595Heaven - however the car was still undergoing testing so at the conclusion of the investigation I had still not received the car back.
I did consider a gamble and accepting the car back after the repair then immediately selling the car on at a premium (WBAC offered 5k over cost) - however not knowing when the car might be returned made me think this could be a risk and better to just end the story here.
This means that shortly there will be a one owner D250s with approx 600 miles coming on the market, no doubt at a significant premium over new - Santorini Black, Ebony/Ebony, Gloss black alloys, Black roof rails, privacy glass and potential long-term issues - beware!
For the short time I had the car I really liked it - perhaps I will return in a few years when it is no longer a new model.

I am seriously considering a 90 Defender. OP do you think you were just unlucky, or do you believe the model has been rushed out and the general public are finding out the bugs?
G
I think I was just unlucky, I had a fairly good rapport with the service representative at the dealer and she maintained that they were not seeing the issue on any other cars.G

Eeek, just looked at Defender2!!! - perhaps best ignore me as I only managed 500 miles...I was in my local dealer the other day and there was a new 90 with interior out. I asked the technician what was the problem. Owner had left it with the window open and a downpour had soaked the carpets and farked the electrics. It was only £14k to fix though. Our agronomist had one of the first ones and when it reached one year old it had a new engine and had been in dealer for 4 out of 12 months. They gave him what he paid for it at 1 year old and sent him on his way with a new one! He said the cheeky sods put it on the forecourt at £8k more than he paid for it!

What did you expect her to say? 'Yes we have had lots of issues on these' would not be something she would say Its a Land Rover. Always expect the worst. Ingenium engine is another fine example. There are some D5 owners out there who are on engine number 3! I almost welcome the arrival of a BEV from LR, but my guess is it will be a BMW underneath.
