Can't answer for the latest iteration but my L405 p400e (i.e. last shape) works the same as the XC90 by the sounds of things. The electric motor only has 100bhp (which surprisingly is sufficient for most situations). Press too hard on the accelerator (there is a tell-tale on the dash) and the engine kicks in. It will stay active for a while (presumably to heat it up). It is noticeable that, on cold days, things like heated seats, screens, steering wheel impact the ability of the 100bhp to cope (compounded no doubt by the battery being cold). That said, I am getting 45-50mpg with a combination of lots of short journeys (sub 10 miles) and a few very long ones (200+).
Thank you! That's better performance than we're achieving from the XC90. 27mpg on longer journeys is typical, Avg. of 31mpg over the last 34k miles

Unless you’re buying it through a company and mainly run it on electric for short journeys, a diesel hybrid offers better overall economy.

Buying it via my company, short trips around town on electric only (school run etc)

Sound a bit overkill for an XC90 or RR just to be town based. I’ve a new FFRR coming next week that I’m looking forward to driving on some long journeys (holidays) this year, and have a modern hybrid runaround for the local stuff which I find more fun to drive in town. Each to their own obviously.

I am on my second P440e (awaiting my P510e) and to answer a couple of questions above:

1. Engine only MPG is 28 in mixed driving
2. I pay £2.50 in electricity to drive 53 miles (Intelligent Octopus tariff)

Incidentally I seem to get 53 miles no matter the weather or use of electric seats / steering wheel etc.
We had a 510e First Edition RR sport for almost 6 months until last week when we got its big brother.

On collection, it was stunning September day and we got 83 miles on a full charge before engine kicked in; never achieved anywhere near that again and as temps dropped we ended up with pretty near what you say...around 55 miles regardless off what creature comforts we used.

In 6 months I never put a drop of petrol in it...that was a revelation.

We have taken delivery of thise diesel Autobiography as its what I ordered in Oct '21, but also ordered a lwb 440e Autobiography in Feb '22 that was supposed to arrive August/ Sept last year but still no build date, so may turn up next month or in 6 months!

Upon collecting this last week I placed an order for a 510e SV in amethyst, which was indicated at 18 months.

Plug in hybrid is definitely my choice of engine for these.

That’s lovely! The Charente Grey looks great when the purple hue is showing.

I’ve driven a D350 back to back with my SVD8 and it’s definitely smoother, and being a hybrid it’s more economical. Both have 700NM of torque which is the important bit.

Mine’s a D350 HSE with some options and the same black pack/interior/wheels/ as yours but with Eiger Grey. My last few FFRR’s have been dark grey or black so I thought I’d have a change. Only a week and a bit until collection smile
Not many sleeps to go now Phil!

Your gonna love it.

I’ve got three kids and two large dogs to cart around! We’ve had an xc90 (on our 2nd) for the last 5 years which gets used daily and then used for holidays etc

I take it your trading in back to LR, if so are you getting what you paid back or overs?
Overs - the market for hybrids is very tight ATM

Quick question for you, we currently have a P440e on order to replace our XC90 T8. On the XC90 if your plant your foot down it kicks the petrol engine and won't come off petrol until the engine has warmed through (it will do the same in the cold too). Is this the same in the 440? Or can you force it to stay in electric only?
If you are in EV mode and you plant it the engine won’t fire. If you are in any other mode and the engine fires then it will stay running (even if you come to a stop) until it warms up.

Interesting info - thanks.

If you ordered an SV then you sound like a driver - warning you won’t like the LWB P440e, it’s a 30% worse drive dynamically than the SWB. As I am sure you know the LWB doesn’t have tne 48v anti roll system which makes a massive distance. The SWB car is so good to drive and can be hustled very well on B roads.

Enjoy!

Yep, I was quoted 18-24 months for delivery which is just to long to wait for me.

In the RRS 440e in EV mode, if you floor the loud pedal, the engine does kick in - and I mean floor the pedal to the mat. This probably is a safety feature as the car may feel you need full power to get you out of a situation ...or a safety feature to let you have fun when you want to!

Having the engine fire up under full power yikes let’s hope they have not put cranks in made of chocolate in these.

I have had 11 Rangie's over the years and 2 L460s - the first model ever where I have had not one issue, really pleased they have stepped up to the plate and made something that looks and performs flawlessly and is also reliable.
