Can keyless entry be disabled on the L460? If so, how?

I was told no when I asked my dealer and he checked with their tech people. There is nothing in the menu’s either.

Unrelated, I turned off the automated emergency front braking system after it nearly caused an accident!

The 460 key becomes inert after 2 minutes of no movement. so even if sat on the window sill inside by the front door it can not be scanned and boosted.

All the keys since 2018 use UWB technology rather than sleeping fobs (but they’re still being nicked).

Ultra Wideband - the signals from key (supposedly) can’t be recorded or relayed, the key is constantly measuring distance between the fob and car and won’t allow it to start unless it’s inside.

Open the door as you would with key-less, sit in the car and press the headlight button on the key Fob 3 times quickly, then press the unlock button on the Fob once. Key-less will now be switched off and you can unlock and lock the car from the key Fob only.

That’s the process the dealer used. It works fine on mine you need to press the buttons in quick succession.

It 100 % works I have this on a video with the tech chap doing this. I insisted on this being done before I collected the car. It does lock out the Gesture tailgate though. Make sure you hold the key fob next to the dash so it can see the the key, press headlight button bottom left 3 times, then the unlock button top right one. Your dealer should know this.

I assume he means running your foot under the car near the back wheel to open the boot – I can virtually never get it to work on any of the cars that have had this feature and just stand around waggling my foot around like an idiot.

On the L405 you stand beside the car next to the rear three quarter panel.
Put your foot under the car.
Move it backwards and forwards between the rear wheel and the bumper.
The tailgate should open

I find it a PITA, triggers when you don’t want it and not when you want it too. I would be fine with it turned off.

It is fitted on all L460 models.

I'm gonna send the missus out to give her leg a good wagging at the back of the car.

Might just film it...

Brilliant! Got it to work but only if the key is located to the RHS of the steering wheel next to the dash. I also had the drivers door open.

Going to inform my dealer cos’ his tech people didn’t know how to do this!

She’ll need the key with her for it to work but may be don’t tell her this smile
