Thanks for the photos Mulsanne. thumbup

I think the seat mounting is about three inches lower this time, as by the time I was at what I would consider a standard FFRR driving position my head was brushing the headlining. Not a deal breaker.

I also think the front seats are a bit less rigid. Headrests are fantastic though. Some of the SV leathers look and feel fantastic in real life, but budget creep has already pushed it far enough!

Overall, feels like a step up from the L405 in every way.

Cannot wait to drive it, if it handles and rides like a bigger Velar (which I think beats the L405 chassis as its the best part of a decade newer) I'll be delighted.

I got the impression the floor was higher, rather than the actual seating position being lower - whichever, it feels very different, and less like a Range Rover.

Ahh, you are right. And that makes sense, given the space below the floor is now for the battery pack. It means there have definately been a couple of inches taken out of the vertical cabin space.

I couldn't quite get that view over and beyond the bonnet - and I'm a tall lad; to smaller people I think this one will be much harder to place through narrow obstacles.

I've been told that the hybrid should be available to order next month. So now focusing on the spec.

What does everyone think about the non-leather interior? I quite like the idea of it - just for a change if nothing else - but not sure whether it's more suited to the Defender than the FFRR?

I'm definitely going clear glass this time - my last three FFRRs have all had the blacked out rear windows (not spec'd by me) and I've never been a fan, especially in the silver car (my current blue one doesn't look too bad with them).

My other debating point is the wheel size - I remember with 22" wheels, I always struggled to find a tyre place that could change them. So I've been much happier with my current 21" wheels. However, I've yet to see a picture of the L460 on 21" wheels so I'm guessing they won't look right.

On the basis of the car at the preview with the fabric interior, I definitely wouldn’t.

Ah interesting. Why wouldn't you? Don't suppose you got any pics?

Just didn’t feel particularly luxurious to me - it’s not terrible, but I’d have leather. To be fair, the matte gold preview car was about as far away from what I’d order as you could get anyway - don’t think I’m the target market...

Struggling here with build options. Going with British racing green and Caraway at the moment on Autobiography p400 but am worried about the caraway given i think its a new colour - anyone have any clue how light / dark this will be? Can’t see any other combo working with green paint so either this or black exterior and perlino i think

Caraway is the colour on most of the press cars. I'd describe it as camel. Not orange like tan, not brown like espresso.

I'm was in for green caraway, now lantau garnet. Though the new garnet video may have put me off.

In anticipation that an order will probably take 12 months I’ve been trying to spec up the P400e engine as the LR website has it plastered all over it. However I can’t find the option to spec that hybrid engine. Am I too early or is it hidden attached to a particular model / spec?

Couple of weeks away to spec the p400e. Start of Feb.

I cancelled my L460 order. Having seen it a few times, in the dealers and in the wild I couldn't get over the modernism. It is no longer a car for my needs (mud, filling with crap and brushing alongside hedges).

It is a beautiful car, but even more urban/city orientated. Also, we had a day of an FPace whilst getting some warrenty work done, and the interior is very similar. I was slightly annoyed to why I would spend nearly 125k to feel like a 40k F-Pace.

There used to be a comment that cars like the X5 etc would never compete truly with a fatty because they were filled with the switch gear of lesser models. That's now true of the FFRR.

Keeping the 5.0 SC L405 for a while now.

It is a great looking car but I’ve have a melt down brushing hedges, which there’s a lot of round here too. I feel your pain.

Interesting comment SmithCorona, and I have to say, I do know where you're coming from.

It used to be with a Range Rover, particularly the L322, that your car was either "town or country", blue or green paint with parchment, no privacy glass was typically a country car, black or grey for example, with privacy glass was more town. Now with the new model, it's not easy to really spec a traditional looking car IMO, particularly with these new blacked out rear lights. They just look wrong with the darker colours.

I have to agree with SmithCorona and I do see where he's coming from, however, I am going to continue with my L460 order, as for me it's all about comfort. I also have a 5.0 Supercharged which I had delivered new only 6-7 weeks ago in December. As with my last Range Rover, the current L405 seats are still not comfortable enough for long drives, whereas the new L460 seems to correct this.

My wife and I had a 7 hour drive for a different purpose on the same day as we went to the L460 preview, we arrived there with numb backsides after 7 hour in the 2021 5.0 L405, immediately upon sitting in the seats of the L460, it felt so comfortable and soft by comparison.

For this reason alone, I will have to change to the L460, as we're buying this car solely for long journeys across Europe. If I wasn't, then like SmithCorona I probably wouldn't bother, but for what we want the car for, seat comfort has to take priority, and the L460 wins in this area hands down.

The hedge point has been on my mind. My Q7 shows wounds of Devon and Cornwall trips and my Panther black RS6 and I did have a meltdown after a certain trip and a German Sat nav.

It’s partly why I’m considering silver (much to my wife’s dismay) as they don’t show. Reality is I will go black and just go in with a view it will get hairline scratches down the side, it’s that or miss out.

Black looks the best in my optinion, silver is sensible, I really want Belgravia green!

I also love Belgravia Green, but not sure it looks right on the LWB.

Also, I'm not sure it looks right with the privacy glass, which is standard rather than optional on the LWB

Agree, but I thought the same about the L405 when it was launched - as they get more refined and polished, they lose some of the ruggedness. I imagine the glossy black lower trim will look awful once it gets scratched.

I'm going for clear glass and on the configurator, privacy glass is showing as optional extra for £475.

I believe privacy glass is an option on the standard car, but on the 5 seat LWB version, it's automatically added as standard with no option to remove it.

Hope you don’t mind me asking but not the first time I’ve heard the privacy glass debate with a FFRR. Is it that the classic position is privacy glass looks more urban? I’ve always specified it on other SUVs and find it looks good. Not the case here?

Typically, it is considered a more urban look, but It's whatever you like Ed.

To be honest, both my current 5.0 Supercharged, which I had delivered in December, and my new L460 FFRR which I have on order both have privacy glass. This is because we'll be taking the dogs to Europe in these cars and so they need protection from the sun. However, I have a daily dog mobile which is a 2007 FFRR 4.4 petrol Vogue, in Buckingham Blue with Parchment. This has no privacy glass and a very traditional country look, in my opinion.

Go with whatever you like though Ed, either will look good. It's personal preference.
