OP you have the patience of a saint. Good luck with whatever is next.

I feel a little sorry for the next owner of your RR. Presumably it will be sold as a low mileage, exceptional condition model, with no mention of the troubles it may had, maybe even for over list price? I wonder if the dealer will be transparent about it’s rather tricky start in life.
Exactly! That’s why I’ve described it (see my post up the page)

What salesman would ever say it has been faulty!? In fact, I’ve had a trawl here and on Autotrader and found a few P400e’s and the ones with up to 2000 miles I can only guess must be other customer returns.

I don’t know! Maybe I’ll buy a very old car that has an engine and not a computer or computer chip anywhere!!

Toni, I’ve had loads of Land Rovers and none have ever gone wrong at all. So, my latest decision (after a couple of swift pints) is I’ve asked David at Vertu to find me a replacement RR Sport Hybrid.
I’m an optimist by nature and would like to think, surely I won’t get another car that goes wrong, so I’m waiting to see the 5 hybrids they have in stock.

Have a splendid evening all.
Wouldn't bother mate, the hybrid is crap, you'll be lucky to get 30 miles from it with the wind behind you. Once the petrol engine kicks in you'll be back to 20mpg. Come to think of it youd be better off in a SVR... Would never get a hybrid RR again.

i think that a hybrid (assuming that it works)is great for drivers who do mainly short journeys which can be all electric, but not so good for longer trips.I have one & now visit the petrol station about once every 3 months & pay no road tax.

This is the exact reason we have decided to try the new one with its reported range of 69 miles a go.

We shall be swapping from 14mpg and £600 a year road tax to I expect a fill up once every 2 or 3 months and no road tax.

Worth a go.

Hopefully it shall all be good.

Friday evening 17:13 pm!

Just got home in the crappy little Mercedes hire car.

Servicing say the car now has a new and different fault.
A sensor in the fuel system!

That’s it, end, I’m now rejecting the car.

One thing I know is that I will be getting my repayments back so far. Then….

I can wait for them to fix it …. again! I don’t think I would ever relax, thinking it could just stop anytime.

I can get my money back and buy a Volvo hybrid. Ffs sake!

I can get the dealer to find me another car.

The thing is, I want a hybrid. Or do I!?

Right chaps, I’m going to drink lots of beer and make my mind up tomorrow!

Anyone care to comment!?

Cheers!
Quick question: did the “crappy” Mercedes break down after half a mile?

Why do you think there will be no road tax?

Really?

Websites say: As a hybrid, the X5 is liable for the 'alternative-fuel vehicle' road-tax rate of £145 a year – a £10 deduction on the standard amount of £155. But as it also costs more than £40,000, owners have to pay a premium-car supplement of £335 a year the first five times it's taxed. This takes the annual bill to £480 during that time.

I was talking to the mechanic at my local indie garage.
His wife works 3 days per week for Land Rover.

She says that the car park has loads of land rovers in it that land Rover cannot/do not know how to fix!

It's so bad, they don't have enough loan cars to give out.

Friend of mine had new Range Rovers for years, he has given up with them, drives an xc90 now.

TBH main agent mechanics are rarely any good so this doesn't surprise me in the slightest. My mum and dad had a newish Astra that had serious running issues that the Vauxhall dealer simply couldn't resolve so this is very much a general malaise, even with run of the mill cars.

Always love these anecdotes. They're gold. laugh
At least it wasn't a bloke down the pub or a manager at work this time!

Heh heh! I knew a bloke, well it was his cousin’s gardener who saw a UFO one early morning.

Just for the record everyone, I finally collected my RR Sport P400e from Rybrook LR on Tuesday.
I daren’t say it, oh, ok then, it’s still working perfectly, no issues and the EV range is enough for the 12 mile round trip to work, which is why I bought it.

Right, just going to say my prayers, it’s time to drive to work! Beautiful car by the way!

Cheers all!

Glad to hear you have finally got it back but I would be bloody mad if it could not do 12 miles on battery power.
