As part of my Monaro rejuvenation and preservation plan, I'll be fitting a new rear diff mount soon.
I'm considering fitting it with one of Pedders insert bushes at the same time, was just after some opinions on their effectiveness, if its negligible, I'll not bother.
Some have said it makes gear changes a little smoother and even stops the gear stick bobbing around as much?
Thoughts please before I spend even more on the money pitlaugh
Cheers...

Personally I wouldn't bother unless fitting a harrop diff cover, which for me is a worthwhile upgrade, trouble is not cheap, plus from what I have heard, amplifiers the road noise.

As best, Roger at pedders is your man for advice.

The Pedders diff insert is worth the effort, especially for the money. Make sure you use plenty of lube as it’s a tight fit eek
There used to be two different types of insert, a smooth and a saw tooth version. My VZ used the saw tooth version. I would contact Pedders and ask them.
The insert didn’t produce any noticeable noise or vibration that I can remember then again I’ve made so many changes anyway it’s difficult to tell.
The insert works best in conjunction with the two large subframe bushings just ahead of the rear wheels and ties everything together.
The gear lever on my car still moves around a bit so the diff insert won’t help with that. To sort that issue out you will need a separate insert for the gearbox mount, but you should only fit that if you change to upgraded engine mounts or the bell housing will get stressed and that will probably ruin your day if it cracks.
As previously mentioned a Harrop diff cover will be the best option but it was pretty expensive when I was looking, still it’s your money I’m spending so just get one laugh

If you're concerned about the gearstick moving about, you'll want to look at engine mounts and the gearbox mount.

I have some Hinson motorsports engine mounts, they're poly so do introduce some NVH (a little more of a noticeable resonance around 2,000rpm but it just sounds like the engine is slightly louder at that point, it's not noticeable once at speed)

Something similar (or even just new stock ones) will no doubt help matters as they'll keep the engine still. There is an insert for the factory transmission mount, I personally bought a new mount, and then did the 'Windoweld' mod, which is to use a product called windoweld (basically just a squirtable polyurethane that dries in about 36 hours) to fill in the gap in the standard mount where an insert would go.

The gearstick doesn't move about at all now really, which makes 2nd to 3rd at full throttle a lot easier, as the whole lot doesn't roll over to one side when you lift off the throttle to change gear hehe

As for the diff insert, as above, it's your money we're spending here, so I'd say go for it hehe I'd be surprised if it made an appreciable increase in NVH, my whole car is polybushed with all the pedders stuff and was still sedate at motorway speeds with the windows up.

As others have said it's worth fitting, very slightly more road noise / vibration through the car but noticeably improves drive and seems to eliminate some of the axle / wheel hop.

There is more rubber in the driveline of these cars than a jonny factory.

The big subframe bushes and diff insert are a good start. I found a new genuine gearbox mount and TorqueMaster mounts the best combo for the engine.
I had some tough mounts but found the vibration crazy.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I've already had a new OEM g/box mount. I've got a new OEM diff mount on the way and I'll shove an insert in it before fitting to the diff.
One day I'll replace the engine mounts with new OEM or Pedders.
Must say, I've recently fitted what was the Monkfish RRP and QuickRack, this has sharpened up the car very nicely.

biggrin ^^^ Spent hours recently recently watching videos of this job and looking at the different brand of bushes.
The entire front end is now new, I've got rear springs and shocks on the way along with a new diff mount and insert.
Seems I've got the modding bug again, but I think I need to have a break once I've fitted the above.
Let the finances recover a little! I've even been considering an aftermarket steering wheel! laugh
