Is it just the big range rovers that are the issue for this or does it include all models in the range like discos etc? Also is it just the south east or is it across the whole country?

I just ran up quotes for a Discovery 5 and they're coming in roughly a third of the RRS prices I've had. Does seem like less of an issue for Discovery and can see that Range Rover brand issue!

Likes of DirectLine said "no" to Discovery too though and like they've just turned off LandRover for at least the time being.

Not quite sure they will get there yet, but, on a recent trip to a local main dealer I asked the salesmen if the insurance issue was causing problems, I mentioned I have received quotes up to £7.5k for FFRR / RRS models and that I’d had one m quote of just over £2k - his response was that now they find £3k as being the average expected premium for their new customers. He then went on to say a lot of potential customers hadn’t been able to get insurance through LR and as a result were cancelling purchases (used cars). In his opinion Defenders seems to be the only car that are doing reasonably well, he said he can’t see there being any slow down on prices dropping for at least another 6-9months for the rest of the model range. He even indicated that the iPace price point are probably a good indicator of where values may go given that are having high insurance price issues too due to being EVs.

I’m sure we will see prices starting to stabilise in 3-6 months; will they have a bit of a bounce back? Possibly, but I wouldn’t expect it to backfill what we’ve seen recently.

The velar and the disco sport were amongst the worst affected cars so no it’s across the range with the defender fairing better.

No it’s not just the south east, in fact where I am in the south east premiums aren’t too bad. London seems to be badly affected and then the usual car crime hotspots elsewhere.

My 2021 Discovery 5.5 has been with Admiral since I bought it new. It lives on a multi-car policy with our 2 other cars.

Last year, the renewal premium for the Disco was £970 (up from c£760). I've just put all the details into comparethemarket, and Admiral are quoting £1195 like for like. So all being well, come July this year, my renewal will be there or thereabouts what I paid last year once multi-car discount has been applied etc.

I had my 23 plate Defender 110 taken.

However that was home burglary and key taken.

Tracking system was disabled somehow though, within 10 min of it driving off the drive. Never recovered although there is a young man currently sat in prison somewhere awaiting his Crown Court appearance later this month

For thieves, yes.
No.

Thefts were at their lowest when traditional keys were combined with transponders in the fob.

It’s a shame they haven’t caught his boss. The guys doing the nicking are just low level criminals, what we really need is a multinational effort to stop the guys running the shipping of the cars either whole or broken for parts. It’s organised crime on a huge scale and imprisoning one of life’s losers for a short stint isn’t going to tackle the issue to the extent it needs tackling because they’re ten a penny. All that said I’m both glad and surprised that in your case they apprehended someone for the offence.

Can’t be hard to find out where the trackers are and how to disable them.

Well I’m insured with Direct Line so they do still insure some people in some areas.

I think DirectLine will do (some) renewals according to press articles a few weeks ago. No new policies by sounds of it which is what I was after.

"Direct Line Group, which also includes Churchill and Privilege, said it has stopped offering insurance on Range Rovers for new customers but renewals could be possible, subject to customers' circumstances."

Well, as many people as buy new JLR products. Probably not super important to key workers running ten year old Fiestas and who might prefer the tax cut.

Whilst not in London I have just had the renewal quote for my sport

£1.44 more than last year @ £1600.00 inc RAC breakdown cover that would cost me over £400 for the same cover

Happy with that

If they’re one of the 6000 fiesta owners who had their car nicked in 2023 they might consider it important.

He’s right, the state of the police and judicial system in this country is piss poor and we should be fixing broken things before we cut taxes. We all know that the tax cuts aren’t going to benefit the people you mention, they’ll be aimed squarely at the sort of people who can afford to buy new JLR products, I’ll take law and order please.

Just got a l322 4.4tdv8 and have insured it for £361. 70 with wife as named driver. Cambs postcode parked offroad both 40 years old with clean licenses. Must have been lucky? Comp sites had 3-4 insurers under £400 and then varying from 900is-5k.

Why hasn't Land Rover done something like that?

Yeah. And why haven’t they made my breakfast this morning?

How many people actually use PIN to Drive in a Tesla?
