It is interesting that the insurance industry dont seam able to recognise that an all new model with all new alarm and immobiliser may be less easy to steel.

They have ironed that out by now - surely?

My 3-year old L405 was more expensive to insure with the same insurer than my new L460 despite the newer model being twice the value. So I think the insurers are recognising the improvement in RR security. Having said that I still fitted some additional security.

I've wondered the same, but suspect a lot of the risk is down to the desirability of the new car more than the security weaknesses (if any relative to other cars).

Quite. If the demand is there for nicked Range Rovers any amount of security won’t keep them from being taken.

I think we're going to sack it off, had a look at an X5 hybrid today and looking at the Cayenne hybrid tomorrow
The X5 45e is a great car...slightly biased though.
Agree - the hybrid option is perfect for us, we prefer the way it drives and the lower running costs/lesser theft risk always appreciated!

Why does a half decent pun get a wooden response?

I would have thought that’s there no real theft risk data so far so they’ve assumed it’ll be as bad as the last one plus a little bit extra because they’re more expensive cars?

My new RRS is £1160 to insure down on the south coast with an at fault claim just inside the last 3 years which doesn’t seem outrageous. The previous model was somewhere around the £900 mark.

I did find that very few insurers were quoting on them and my previous insurer flatly refused to entertain the idea. Hopefully things settle down soon.

Has anyone experienced the same problems for a Discovery? I went to renew insurance for D4 and LV wouldn't even quote, and when I did get a reasonable quote it was more than my Taycan Turbo. I find it hard to believe that these are particularly attractive to thieves, certainly when compared to RR

What about the level of "environmental" activism currently targeting SUV in urban areas?

Nice congrats!

It is yes, (Tanzonite/Coffee) although we went quite light on the spec so just the standard seats/interior!

Nicely done but I suspect people have more 'pressing' needs...

Gobsmacked by quotes I’ve had on a 70plate RR Vogue SDV6, valued at 65k. No accidents or claims in over 25years of driving…..note that the excess is £1k!

Surely this is going to hammer residuals? Best price I’ve had is just under £1.5k with a mediocre company.

11% of the vehicle value. It must be like being 17 again!

I wonder whether there will be any impact on new car sales. Our Vogue is 7 years old now and it may be the last Range Rover we buy.
