OK between Jan 2017 to Jan 2023 the totals are:
Disco Sport 4wd - 84090; 2wd - 3314
Evoque 4wd - 92793; 2wd - 17831

Says a lot, Evoque owners are all about the show, Disco Sport more about the go....

Pretty sure the Disco Sport 2wd was only available as a manual too.

Don't confuse Discovery with Discovery sport.

The Discovery is a full size Landrover based on the range rover platform, in the UK they all came with low range and are all 4WD and are properly off road capable.

The discovery Sport is the same transverse platform as Evoque and E-pace (rehashed ford) and these can come in front wheel drive only.

I think actually relatively little of them were specced in 2WD, and from what I recall it's only the very low power 163bhp version of the 2.0l diesel Ingenium that that was 2wd, as a general rule the 180bhp diesels should all be 4wd.

If you're viewing a car the sure fire way to check is to look under the back for a rear diff and driveshafts, if it has them its 4wd.

Not strictly true….I believe the D4 always came with low range but the D5 was and is dependent. I ordered a 2.0 petrol from new and was rather disappointed when it arrived with no low range ‘box. As such it was missing Rock Crawl mode and maybe others. I believe it’s now an optional extra on all the engines. Same for the RRS.

Is the D150 Evoque not the 2wd one?

I see a few about with those horrible tiny multi spoke wheels on them.

I’ll go against the grain and say I like the DS.
Im going to get one hopefully next year for the OH, HSE luxury spec for all the toys and ignore the service schedule and get the oil changed much more often.

I wonder what percentage of Evoque's ever get further off road than a grass car park?
I'd say close to zero. I don't think anyone that needs to ever go offroad would even consider it as an option.

Although, to be fair, I've just been reading up on it and it does appear to have good clearance, entry and departure angles and a 50cm wading depth, so I dare say it'd be alright if needed, perhaps tyre dependent.
Don't judge a book by its cover... It might be a 'pretty car' but the Evoque is very capable and fantastic off-road. smile

Until a few years ago, that's what it used to be... Well, other than a small batch of early Range Rovers, built for the Italian police.

It's also something LR used in their marketing material.

Do you have first-hand experience of it off-road?

Genuinely interested. I spend a lot of time amongst 4x4s being off road, and I've yet to see an Evoque on anything softer than tarmac. Also yet to see a Velar off the road. Feels like wasted capability.

I did the Land Rover experience day when I got my DS, the instructor said they were very capable off road but they didn't get many owners taking them up on the half day off-roading experience you get with your new Land Rover, and that he had never seen any Velar owners take up the offer.
This was at their Rockingham Castle venue (but we went to a local 4x4 quarry, the same one they did the famous Top Gear Bowler Wildcat feature), so it could well be a regional thing that the local Velar owners didn't take LR up on the offer!

A couple of us use them supporting P2P races. They are pretty capable on muddy rutted tracks that would confound other cars. Mine does all I ask it to do and for the 90% of the time I am on-road is a very comfortable place to be.

Nice. Where do you do that? I used to go to P2P a lot, but haven't for ages. Been trying for the last couple of years but they keep clashing with other commitments. I'm in NW Wilts.

I did the complimentary half day LR experience when I got my Evoque, but chose to do it in a FFRR because it was the biggest there.

We followed an Evoque on the course, the instructor said they can do pretty much everything the others in the range could do.

that sucks balls.
Why?
Because the point of a land rover is that it can rove, on land.

2WD reduces it to all mouth and no trousers staus.
I'd say most LR products are all mouth and no trousers, even with 4WD hehe
I only ever really drive defender 90s offroad, but when I do it's wading through deep water, driving onto seesaws and the like.
The defender is basically a tractor, but with worse panel gaps than a tractor. Love them.

I assume you don't mean the current Defender?

I had a 'proper' one once upon a time. Great fun off road, though I have to say, every other 4x4 I've had has come with more lockers as standard. I used to get cross-axled far too often when pushing it too hard and/or not paying attention (most likely the latter) hehe

Correct. Old shape ones, pre-2016 end of production.

I'm mostly trundling about on the bedford autodrome 4x4 course during palmers days. A bit of farming stuff in North Wales towing *ahem* lots, but that's not as recent.

Not strictly true, there were 2wd Series Landrover as well.
