The recent engine work is a bonus, that’s probably a 4-5k cost. I just got almost same spec, a lot higher mileage though. Photos don’t show a parcel shelf- with reclining rear seats they use a different shelf to “standard” Range Rovers and are apparently very hard to find used for sale.
HTH
Ok thanks

So you believe the shelf could be missing, I will ask the seller if it's present.

Got to love a BMW V8. biglaugh
Embarrassingly, it remains in the same spot. Getting the other rocker cover off has really been a struggle.
You need to remove the injector harness to gain clearance to remove it, but so far, I haven't been able to find the right combination of picks to get at the spring clips in order to release the harness from the injectors.

Then I ran out of time because house projects took over and then Christmas, and then house projects again. Luckily those have finally come to an end so I can get back to fighting with the M62.

It will live again, soon!

Has anyone tried this method of headlight refreshing, changing the cover as I think they are too far gone to polish out ?

I just wanted to share that my L322 sailed through the MOT yesterday with a mere advisory about a rear tyre getting a bit worn. Also some nice comments from the garage about what good condition it's in and how low its emissions are!

Obviously I realise that this inevitably means that something major and expensive is about to stop working, explode or fall off but I'll enjoy the happy feeling while I can...

Small update on this one too:

I was able to finally get the loom cover off, change the gaskets and re-seat everything. I also cleaned out all of the oil from the spark plug ports, which in some cases was all the way to the top! Who knows how long these gaskets have been leaking.

Then it was on with the new bits; water pump, thermostat, radiator, viscous fan, seals for the throttle and MAF sensor plus 2 new belts.
Fresh coolant in, top up of oil and she purred in to life on the first twist of the key, only this time sounding buttery smooth and very quiet.

Took her for a quick spin and I don't think I've grinned behind the wheel of a boat car in quite some time, it felt fantastic.

Sadly, the brakes are toast so that is a job for this weekend and then it's in for an MOT to see what's what.

Here she was as purchased last Sept, before any of the work above, but after a quick clean.

These are on the floor right now, I’ve got a well sorted low mile petrol 5.0 and I’m getting stupid calls

Yes, what with high mileage L405 coming down to mid to low teens it's knocking onto the older L322 now.

Isn't selling any car the same?

I've not sold anything for a while.

I just commented on another thread, possibly unpopular but the point is valid, where the buyer says he got a 2.5k hair cut off the asking during a phone call before seeing the car. I'm assuming the asking was around 25 so that's 10%. I'm also assuming he hadn't seen the car yet but not certain. I know we all dislike these enquiries asking for discounts without even seeing the car. If some sellers keep buckling then more buyers will assume it's fair game.

Maybe this is Me criticising Myself. If I see a car advertised at 27.5k and think it's expensive I wouldn't enquire hoping to get it for 25k. But clearly some people are.

Thing is when people come up they’ll spot “something “ so if you’ve dropped on the first call it’s a waste of time.

My car is the cheapest sorted 5.0 on the trader and still people want less quoting diesel models as examples.

I’ve an eye on a DB9 that seller wants a silly high price for like over main dealer and £20k over WBAC but I wouldn’t call as it’s a huge difference to what I’d pay.

A recommendation to L322 owners - consider classic car insurance polices they are becoming eligible depending on the provider. If the circumstances are right this can save serious amounts of money each year.

It was overpriced when it was first advertised and the fact that it hasn't sold highlights that. You have 10 plate dealer cars at £12k, so highly unlikely someone is going was going to pay £17/18k for an older car even if it has low miles.

Speaking of pricing, there's a 5 litre car on 82k miles up for FIFTY grand on autotrader. biggrin

What is the deal? Either someone's going to be unbelievably disappointed or it's an 'enforced sale' by SWMBO.

My guess is you are right there.

There is also £9k car in Portsmouth with 177k on the clock and a category £11k car in Scotland that have been on there for near a year now.

I think the 5.0 will eventually rise in price but not for a few years yet. Cheaper ones do get snapped up pretty quickly (Says the owner of a 5.0 Supercharged!)

If anyone has a green over beige 5.0 SC, then that is 100% worth hanging on to regardless of mileage.

This is where people don’t realise the cost of these cars. It can easily cost thousands on never ending little things going wrong, I got everything done down to one failed led on a switch but it’s not valued by prospective buyers.
I should have took £15k in December in hindsight.

Thats the challenge with Range Rovers really (and possibly all LRs), They cost a lot to maintain and you will never get that money back pound for pound.

£15k isn't a million miles off I think. Don't know if you follow Smith and & Sniff (Jonny Smith and Richard Porter). Richard Porter is the ex writer for Top Gear/Grand Tour and he has a 2010/73k FFRRSC. Meant to be very clean and he also wanted £18k and based on latest podcast (I declined when I heard he wanted that much), I think he will be putting it on Collecting Cars, so worth keeping an eye on that.

They were almost certainly rise in value eventually but who knows when.

I watched a 2007 4.2 SC go through BCA today for £4,000. CAP clean was £3,250. I was a little suprised it fetched over.

That could still retail at £6.5-7k if the arches are good. They probably won't be. Depends on the colour of course. Lighter interiors always sell well IME.

Any pointers on where to look? I tried a few and got a bit bored trying any harder once a couple had commented that 2005 isn't old enough yet for a classic policy.

I moved mine on to my Flex policy with Footman James as an additional classic. Made a massive difference going from standard to classic. Mine is a 2008 Supercharged model
