I am trying to find out which compression ratio my engine is, in order to get the correct spark plugs. The Haynes manual says there was an option of either 7:1 or 8:1 compression ratios. Does anyone know how to tell which one I’ve got?

(1976 Series III, 109, Petrol.)

Thanks in advance.

It's OK, I managed to find the answer elsewhere.
For future reference, there is a raised part on the top RH side of the block (as you look at the engine from the front). This is only on the 8:1, like mine. The 7:1 is flat without the raised part.

OK, I've taken a photo now. How do I attach it to my reply?

Go to Imageshack and register (free) click upload which will take you to the file system on your PC click the file you wish to upload.
When the file is on there it will have 6 different file names dependant on where you want to use them. Right click on the top one (tagged 'forums') and copy.
Start your reply to a post and paste your pic into it.

Jobs a good'n.

Cheers!

Ill go and have a look what mine is. Presumably the hi-comp engine is more powerful but less torquey?
