You're all so wronghehe

When it comes to offroading, nothing beats the "original" 4X4

You know the one, the LR & RR Recovery vehicle.hehe

Is that the 'original 4x4' that was airlifted from the first camel trophy cos they got stuck?
Are they using coil springs yet?

No the original as in copied by Land Rover
Didn't the guy who invented the LR, get the idea from driving a WW2 Jeep arounf his farm.

As for coil springs, what's wrong with leaf's? they did the job for years. Sometimes basic is not a bad thing. If a RR breaks down, you can almost guarantee it'll be somthing to do with the fancy electronics.

But yes the Grand Cherokee is on coils, you know the one with the 4.7 V8 Hemihehe

Next you'll be telling me thats not a proper enginehehe

Ah yes the proper 4.7 with the amazing 220bhp?

Thats the one, but its 235 bhp and 305 ft/lbs of torque, Or you could go for the 5.7 V8 Hemi with 330 bhp at 5,000 rpm, 375 lbs.-ft. at 4,000 rpm,

Or you could stick with the LR & RR current range of 2.7 195 horsepower V6 diesel engine or a 4.4 litre petrol V8 of 280 horsepower.

Either way, due to the weight difference, the Jeep will leave the others standing

See what I mean about RR snobberyhehe

Or you could look a bit further up the current list to see the 4.2 supercharged with 400bhp and 420 lb-ft at 3500 rpm

Either way, Despite the extra .6 tonnes, could leave the 4.7 standing.

See what I mean about proper engines? hehe

Right if we're going to get into a pissing contest.

The 5.7 hemi does 0-60 in 7.1, about the same as a supercharged RR
But the new 6.1 hemi commander does it in 4.8yikes

Nice RR by the way, but I bet you wouldn't take it where I took mine yesterdayhehe Might get a scratch

Let me guess, you took it to the scrapyard? if not then why not? hehe

I do like Hemi's, however I do wonder what would happen if you slotted a 6 litre ford group engine into the RR? scratchchin

(I thought I'd set you up for a reliability joke )

This is like handbags at dawn rofl

If it's got 4 wheels, knobbly tyres & drive to each of them & does'nt break down that'll do me for some off road fun I've owned SI's, SII's, Niva's, Suzuki's, Pajero's the Niva was best offroad by far, the Suzuki the most reliable.

I was once told by our very friendly Bedhuin guide in the Sahara that they get different groups of 4x4'ers coming through. The Swiss turn up in weird things like Pinzhaugers & want to go to really extreme far flung places, the Germans come along in their Unimogs & like spending weeks out in the desert, the Brits come along in their grossly overloaded all the gear no idea landies & actually relish the challenge of desert repairs which they have to do lots of hehe They end up taking the short route & miss out on all the extreme destinations - Each to their own.

Here we are.....

My pimp wheels aren't very pimp in their present condition but overall the car is actually cleaner at the moment thanks to the flooded fields so you've probably won today.grumpy Yellow registration blobs are an optional extra.

The Wilks brothers...
They needed to replace thier jeep as it was unreliable for farm work
So they made thier own, and the rest is history..

Leafs do work well, however coils work better

The tow ropes for pulling out the shoguns.

Very good Banter here.....LOVE it!

anyway, I do actually like 90's and Disco's etc....

Jeep Cherokees-great vehicle especially 4.0litre auto!

Rusty Tailgate- Its a Trooper sadly they all rust, although mine's not too bad the bodyworks pretty good for age, Chasis hasn't a sign of rust-unusual for a Trooper of that age.

Anyway, some good jokes there laugh

Jeep Cherokees- My mate has 1 who moved to Russia, drives it from here to russia and back every 3months, done it about 9times now and no signs of weakness from it, only thing about those cherokees is the ground clearance as standard-my old Montego was higher up!LOL

anyway,if you've got the power and the tyres you'll go anywhere.

Good Talking to you lot

The only thing that puts me off a 90 is;
A) the cost of buying one comapred to a newer SWB Trooper
and
B) the practicality(spelling-like said earlier trooper owner!) a 90 doesn't seem to have much room for fishing gear etc.... does anyone find that?

Just thought I'd show you Landy owners what a proper 4x4 was, and what off-roading is like and what the 4wheel drive is for!

Just mind out the way if you see this snarling in your mirrors..
