Hope someone can shed light on a problem I have just encountered:

Background:
I am in the process of designing a set of brackets to change the dampers on my Bowler from the standard stud type to some Fox units. The problem is that the brake master cylinder is pretty much where the top of the RH damper top mount should be!

The brake system is 1973 Range Rover setup - split front / rear and uses the old enormous (Lockheed?) servo unit (like having a pressure cooker under the bonnet.

Question is:
what dual-circuit master cylinder / servo combination can I fit that is shorter than the present setup? The 100 Bowler I used to compete in had a 110" master cylinder and servo but I can't remember if it was dual circuit. Making up new pipes is not a problem but I'd rather get the Foxes fitted instead of having them in the corner of the kitchen!

cheers

IIRC the later 110's have dual circuit.

ooh you're having exactly the same problem i'm having.

what servo have you got? do you have a flat fronted jobby or the one with a deep "slanted" front- very difficult to explain online!

i have found a defender master which has two outlets on it and is tiny but i also seem to have a pretty small master for the range rover- if you find something that definitely works then i would like to see what you have done.

Hi, it's the Lockheed one, I believe. Very deep with a tapered front end. A friend tells me that the master cylinder / servo assembly on his '93 Range Rover is 250mm from mounting face on pedal box to front of master cylinder versus the 370mm of my setup!

I am going to check out availability and price of second hand servos and a new master cylinders from this model year of Range Rover.
