hi gang,

im curently shopoping around for a landy for work and would really like a double cab. however so far, the only ones ive seen have been mucho expensive or more bent than dale winton and graham norton in a sauna.

so, it occurs to me that i could just get a estate vehicle and do the conversion myself. does anyone know of a place that sells the parts id need to do this? i figure itd be a new tailgate and a new roof, and a rear section from a cab back. anyone know if this is possible? and if so, how tricky?

or, if anyone knows of a double cab for sale please let me know.

many thanks,
N.

Nervy,

The double cab roofs are very expensive and difficult to source.

The actual change over would be pretty easy though, once you had the correct parts. rear tub, roof, cab back etc etc..

Give this lot www.foleyspecialistvehicles.co.uk/ a bell they helped me source a complete bodyshell when I was rebuilding my 110. Where in the country are you? Just in case you need a hand.

Ooh can we have pics of the new vehicle Nerv, MMS them if you still haven't worked out how to use the interweb.

Went to have a drive in that 110 I showed you the other day and was left, dare I say it in this forum, underwhelmed. Thought the V8 would have some balls but it just seeemed to make a lot of noise. Maybe I should drive some others for comparison but my head is being turned by some very cheap Jeep Cherokee's at the moment along with the comfort (read leather and aircon) that they bring to the party paperbag.

yes I had a Jeep :spit: when they first hit the uk a great motor to drive but little or no space inside a disco or rangie might be better for you if you like leather and A/C : perv:

LOL, yes a Rangie is also on the list and a disco, but those Cherokee's seem to offer a lot of car for the money they are going for (clicky]. My budget for this car isn't big really (4k max but aiming for £3k if poss) so would probably rule out all but the ropiest of the P38's (and I don't think I want to try to run a classic shape one), disco's more affordable and seem achievable for that. I had an old Cherokee once before and I thought it really was ok, day to day it is just for nursery runs with the kids during the winter and to use when I don't want to run the Tivver, kids are still small so as long as I fit in ok (and I don't think I have grown that much) then it should be fine. Would like to get into a bit of offroady fun as have been inspired by cerain pics of ph'ers at play down at Woodlands - Will drive all and see which hits the right buttons.

Tis a shame really, I so wanted to love the 110, my first car was meant to be a Landy but was veto'd as too big (even in 90 form) and I ended up with a mini Landyalike Daihatsu F20 (embarassing pic in profile) which I loved and drove everyone for about 3years, equally basic inside but maybe the intervening years have softened me. It seemed like a car that would be novel for a week but grind me down having to use it almost daily in the winter (a point that was made well by GreenLandy on SGirl's thread the other day). Another option is to buy a normal car and when we move next year and have more space try to pic up a really basic old Series Landy, it would then be a car that I don't HAVE to drive but can choose to do when I feel like it. Decisions Decisions

Sorry for thread Hijack Nerv - as you were.

rofl rofl rofl sinny, youre such a berk.

my new ones a 300tdi thingy, and i really like it actually. its nothing like my previous two, and is really refined and quite and fast enough for motorway cruising. its going to need a bit of tidying but i reckon itll be ace when im done. plus, and lets not underplay this, its got a snorkel. i do love a good snorkel, me.

if anyone interested in my 73 defender bodied 90 diesel, please drop me a line. the 'Behemoth' has already filled my driveway cry

plus all things being well im going to buy something deeply fun on saturday too to perfectly compliment the B driving

ps snorkel.

Feck yes a snorkel is very cool, well done.

idea There is probably a business in there. Buying landies, fitting a snorkel for, what £60, and knocking it out again to the vain and shallow for £500 more. hehe

Dare we ask what the other purchase is, does it begin with an "M"?
