....this!

If all goes to plan, I'll be picking it up on Thursday.
I'm quite chuffed with myself.

(Anyone want to buy a knackered old shed of a P38? - Didn't think so!)

Looks great! Now about that P38 - what's wrong with it? (Or is it easier to say what's right with it? )

Honstly....honestly? Not much. The passenger heated seat element doesn't work and the gearbox grumbles if you thrash the daylights out of it. Apart from that it's just as you'd expect a 129k mile P38 to be!
I've spent loads on it over the past few years, new air springs and compressor, new rad, new blend motors, new cats etc etc - all the stuff that normally breaks on a P38 has broken and been replaced. The Rovacomlite system I bought a few years ago has been invaluable!

I think I'll just give a good polish and bung it on ebay. Someone might want it, but they're not worth much these days. cry

I don't care though, cos I've got a new toy! driving

(I've just been onto my insurance company's website and it's going to cost a mere £39 extra on my premium...great!)

Great looking car!

Is it blue or black? Looks black from the front, but more blue towards the rear where the light catches.

Call me old fashioned, but if you ain't got a S/C, it ain't a S/C, therefore don't put S/C kit on a non-S/C, it kinda cries out 'I can't afford a S/C, but I'll pretend.' I mean you wouldn't put 330i badges on a 318i Bimmer would you???

I originally wanted Hamman PG3 Wheels to put on it.But trying to find a set for anything near sensible money, was as rare as rocking horse s**t.I only opted for the sport wheels because to me they are the best of a bad bunch. All the wheels currently on offer by LR look very bland.Same for the side vents.Standard are nothing to look at,so didnt know if to go for the SC side vents or the chrome ones.Never had any intention of making it look like a SC one.Thats why im not going down the root of changing the rear lights or the front and grill. But did want to be different and have the lights and grill colour coded.

I can't decide if the colour coded headlights will look ok or not. I really want them to look brill, because the thought of colouring them went through my head head the first time I saw piccies of the L322 about 6-7 years ago.
The grille and Brunel vents need to be coloured. Maybe even black on a non-black car.

So, BT, when you've colour coded your headlights/grille etc post up some piccies, so we can all decide if we want to copy you and claim the idea as our own.

Its easy enough to do on the headlights. The indicator and side pod and rear lights are more difficult to do.But well worth the effort in my opinion.Although its lost on a silver coloured one. There was a thread on here some time ago with a picture of a Arden RR with the colour coding done.

Hi, nice new rangie!

I ended up selling my P38 as well... got a need for speed which'll only be satisfied by something stupid! I hope i live the tale to end up in another rangie some day!

P.s sod the bling wheels, stick some 18's on and get it muddy! Interested to see how it compares with your P38 in the dirt

Good luck!

That was me.... as I have said before, if I had the Mk3 it would have the colour coded lights and Arden wheels. Lovely and not really bling IMO (and doesn't need tints or clear indicators!)

20's? It'll be a struggle to find a decent set of All Terrains that are 20" It's gonna be tricky enough at the standard 19" rim - I may have to invest in a set of TD6 rims.

Overfinch is not like it was. They dont seem to do big conversion work on this model.Unlike previous models.
