Good Defender buy?

I'm thinking of getting a Defender - mainly as it'll allow me to carry the three children AND their bikes, luggage etc better than a people carrier type vehicle. I've had a Disco v8 & an RR HSE before, but I'm thinking of a diesel CSW.

I've looked at quite a few threads re. 200 tdi vs 300 tdi etc - but would prefer to buy as good a car as possible for about £8k. saw this in the classifieds - would it be a decent buy? www.pistonheads.com/sales/156974.htm

For that sort of cash you can afford to look around for a nicer example. That rear cross member is covered in rust, I no they all do that, but a loving owner would have touched that up IMO. I had a quick search on autotrader.co.uk and found a couple of Td5's CSW in your price range.
