I know you will say you don't want multiple cars but that's just tough.
nope, not interested. want a big truck thing. its going to be a big truck thing. the missus will use it when im not doing work that needs a truck (and she wants a big truck thing), and i will use the car im also buying (but not telling you about, obviously) when im not using the big truck thing. this will enable us to get rid of her car, and my landy. and get a big truck thing and a new car. which im not telling you about. in addition to the big truck thing.

so, in summary, big truck thing. not car.

Chip or no chip, it will bore you... and quickly.
why? none of my three landies have, and its just a landy with comfy seats. i dont see the difference.
Dunno why, just reckon it will. The defender is quirky in it's slowness and mine at least feels like you wouldn't want it to go an awful lots faster than it does. In a Rangey I think because it is quiet and comfortable you would feel comfortable going faster and this leads to frustration that it won't.

I think...

but...legend has it then when chipped (which is one of my original questions) it will be as fast as a 4.0, thus (nice use of a thus, huh?) solving this problem.

not sure what thatll do to its mpg tho....

he has a point.

You get more for your money with the V8 - and if you want the V8 performance - it'll be easier (and cheaper) to buy the V8 rather than chipping a diesel (which'll make the derv closer to the V8 consumption anyway).

and around town the v8 will return 8mpg, whereas even a chipped diesel will double that.

Mind you, if your going to get a V8 - you may as well get a good V8!

hehe you know you want to!

Okay, i'll leave you alone to get serious answers now - other than to say how do Derv Disco's stack up at your price range?

well if they are then as quick as a 4l petrol then maybe that is the answer but I am not sold on it...... basically I think I am against it however regardless as IMO the P38 looks old now and you will look like a used car dealer. Can't you just find another £10k and get an early example of the new shape one with the 3 litre TDV6 diesel - my sis has one of these and it really is quite a bit nicer and you look super rich in one, which you no longer do in a P38 (ducks head from p38 owners). Hers seems to go alright too, not quick but not lethargic either.

Yes I know about the current one and am sure Jamie will know all about any plans and will gladly spill the beans on any pending purchases - most of his sentences to me on MSN seem to end with "but you didn't hear that from me!"
