Disco/ Def 110 - real world fuel consumption?!?

Hi all,

I've had my '52 plate RR Vogue V8 for about 3 yrs now - absolutely love it, but now fancy a change. I'm after either Defender 110 or a Discovery III TDV6.

My RR gives a 'real world' 16mpg - mix of mostly commuting and longer drives at weekend. What's a realistic expectation from a diesel 110 Defender or the Disco? I'd be looking at models up to 3 or 4 yrs old.

on my G4 110 its cost about £67 to fill it up and I get about 350 miles. Mostly town & A roads.

Dont know on the D3, not had it that long.

Thanks - that helps in fact. I put £90 in to fill it up, and that will last about 300 miles at a squeeze...

My TDi 90 did 31mpg, TDi 110 did 30mpg and my 90 V8 did 17mpg, but I drive them fairly gently as who buys a Defender and rushes?

My td5 90 does about 23mpg average when I drive it, When my girlfreind drives it she gets 30mpg!

I haven't had my 110 TD5 long enough to know general use figures, but last week it managed 19+mpg while towing a 3 tonne boat trailer which impressed me.

My TD5 90 does anywhere between 27-31 MPG, which is about 2-3 MPG less than my on Tdi 90.

I does drop to 25 MPG when I'm driving it quite hard and crusing at 75 MPG over 220 miles, but otherwise as above.

My defender 90 300TDI does about 30mpg at 60-65mph, a high ratio ashcroft transfer box adds about 3mpg though...

Disco 3 TDV6 - round about 24/25mpg - real world (i.e 85 on the m/way, town and country lane dirving)
