I understand there is a HUGE list of things to look out for on these, so im told anyways.

anyone know where i can find a long comprehensive list of things to look out for?

ive found a late 2001 car, looks alright, I know nothing about cars though, nevermind the p38.

ohh and do they all have air suspension, or is it just a specific model ?

thanks in advance.

There are a few threads in the last week or so about these. Also plenty of things at rangerovers.net

yes mate they all have air springs although you can get conversion kits to change them to coils. as for what too look out for:
anything remotely weird about suspension (time it takes to raise/noisey compressor etc) can be very expensive
any sign of coolant leaks or loss under the bonnet, velley gasket or head gaskets etc
a book symbol displayed on the hevac panel in the centre of the dash (under the radio) or a smell of coolant in the cab
clunking on taking up drive or harsh gear change.

those are the main ones i would look out for

Defo look out for the book symbol. Means probs with the aircon usually blend motors only a £10-20 part but labour = taking doors and dashboard out!

I had 2 replaced under warranty each time the job was over £1k a pop

Look for signs of loss of coolant. Probs with porous blocks. IIRC this can be overcome by re-lining with chemical solution but doesnt come particularly cheap.

Everything electrical

Wing mirror returns, anything dashboard related.

Air suspension probs. Mine was generally reliable in this area.

Air suspension, the book symbol with the A/C as mentioned and if its a 4.6 if the temp gauge sits anything over half way when warm i would forget it.

The air suspension needn't be very expensive to fix. It's got its reputation from inept dealers with no fault finding skills who just replace bits as a first step. The parts are cheap (compressor and valve block can be reconditioned for less than £100 each), and there are plenty of resources online for how to troubleshoot problems.

sorry forgot all about this, i bought one in december.

silver with black interior vogue with every option other than dvd screens and headphones in the rear and the rear tables on the back of the seats.

its going in for lpg next week (multi point landi system) and ive got a harman kardon drive and play going in at the same time so ive got a matching ipod thingy for the harman kardon stereo.

loving it so far, ive found replacement air suspension for 70 pound per corner, its alright at the moment but knowing its not going to kill me financially if it breaks is a worry of my mind.

best bit about it?

the stereo!

never heard a fatory fit stereo anywhere near as good as this, even the uprated bose one they fit in 911's cant touch it.
