Hideous. As has been said already the guilty party should be shot!

it's a good looking car, but it's still got no elbow and knee room.

i'll stick with my landcruiser thanks very much- more powerful, quieter, comfier, better off road (yep axle lockers really do make THAT much difference) and far more reliable.

Have you guys seen the shut lines between the bonnet and the wings- no better than on my Series 3 Stage 1 V8 (which oddly could take a new bulging bonnet without too many problems)

It is shit in every way. As road cars, Defenders are absolute pants. As an off-roader that Defender is absolute pants. So what is this one for?

Aside from perhaps the tyres, which are easily remedied, why exactly would it be absolute pants? Have you driven one off road?

It would be absolute pants because some pillock has fitted it with low profile road tyres purely because of the way they look. A landy is pants on the road anyway, it'll be even worse with those tyres on road and it'll be absolutely hopeless off road. And yes I have driven Defenders off-road, but I don't see how that is in anyway relevant.

And of course you could take those wheels off and put on the originals, but then you'd be turning this Defender back into the vehicle that originally left the factory ... i.e. a proper off-roader, not this ridiculous bauble.

Agreed they are terrible road cars But for some reason they are enjoyable

Also strange how a G-wagen can pull off the stunt of being a bling mobile while a defender can't as they are quite similar vehicles

So its just the tyres then! I was only curious because of the superlative description you used, as it did indeed look pretty standard mechanically. No reason why you couldn't put some MTR's on those wheels either smile

I am always surprised with the capability of Land rovers on road tyres - took mine up a steep wet grass incline on road wheels the other day, and yes ...proper tyres would have been better, but I'd hardly call the progress made even remotely pants hehe

Quite agree. My brother-in-law recently bought one, accidently he claims, during an e-bay flutter. Even my sister now guiltily admits it's fun to drive. Theirs is an ex-MOD winterised mat-green shed with the standard alarming rust bubbles along the bottom of the windscreen and it is ace.

There is only one thing for it.........make one for the road and one for off-road.........then everyone is happy.

Thats a fantastic motor. Looking at your profile JE have done a fair bit of work on it. biggrin

My Dad has a Defender 90 XS, I'm lucky enough to be insured on it when I'm back from Uni, I love driving it, hopefully once shes out of warranty I might persuade him to get the Stage 2 upgrade.

Hi,
I dont believe they are terrible road cars as long as you are not in a hurry and drive them with the respect they deserve for their mass. i recone it handles alot better than a knackered mk3 I used to drive. And like a couple of months ago when a chav in a nova did a u-wey in 20ft in front of me and I had to brake and skidded off the road at 50mph onto the grass it didnt mind at all and I just turned back onto the road and carried on to work. in any other car I could have died in a head on or would have rolled a few times and hit a tree. I have now fitted a scorpion racing fast road kit - new shocks, springs, anti roll bars and orange dynamic polybushes and it rocks, bloody good round bends and handles like it is a ton lighter, see http://www.scorpionracing.co.uk/.
