2004 Range Rover Sat Nav - Help with TMC?
Discussion
Hi,
Have a 2004 Rangie with the BMW Sat Nav, running v 3-1/32 software.
Whatever i do, i cannot get the TMC to work. I follow all of teh instructions in the manual, the letters TMC appear at the bootom of the screen, but in black, not green.
I have pre-set Classic radio etc etc.
I rang my local dealer, who asked me to bring it in this morning. The technician "didn't know anything about Sat Nav", nor did teh service manager, and they wanted to read the manual that i had been following!
They even brought in a bloke from sales to help. They all did what i had been doing from the manual, but no joy - another 2 hours of my life i will never get back.
Please, please, please can anybody help

GWR, Capital and Chrysalis broadcast a tmc sevice, too.
Can't say I've ever used it though.
Maybe you need to satnav your way into the back of a traffic jam and see what happens then?
Thanks - that is what i have done for the past couple of days, hence i want to sort the TMC outCan't say I've ever used it though.

Can only relate to MB, where this was a biggish issue as MB took years to reach agreement (pay for a licence) with a UK TMC provider. It always worked in other countries.
They chose ITIS - who use transmitters based on trucks and coaches to monitor traffic flow - which really is a bit hit and miss. It's also very slow to update. TrafficMaster's system with the little blue boxes everywhere is *much* better.
So on MBs, only the later DVDs, released from about 2006 onwards, come with TMC enabled in the UK. Otherwise the TMC symbol is greyed out. Maybe that's the same issue that you have? I have a feeling that BMW's system had TMC enabled some time id 2004, so if yours is the original CD/DVD the car came with, then it probably just needs updating. eBay is usually a good source, but make sure the disk is an orignal - copies don't usually work too well.
In the MB you don't have to tune to Classic - the system takes care of all that in the background.
