I have just replaced my chassis, and I don't want to do it again!

So I've been thinking....

I have an old series 2, with crankcase & rocker cover breather going directly to the open air. Is it a good idea to route these into the chassis? My plan is that the oil mist, from the breathers, would settle inside the chassis cavities and keep Mr Tinworm at bay. After all - the inside of my sump is rust free. I accept that the chassis might drip a little oil, but the engine/gearbox/axles do already!!

It all sounds reasonable - but am I missing something really obvious?
Please help?

hIf you haven't replaced your chassis with a galvanised jobbie then you've missed a trick here! However, your Series 11 was manufactured in 1960 something so in about forty years or so, be prepared to roll your sleeves up again. thumbup

There's water in those gases, too.

Interesting idea, though. I'd be inclined to try it. What have you got to lose? After all, my Morris Minor was virtually rust free because the rear gearbox seal was shagged & it flicked oil all over the underside.
