NFU are pretty modification freindly. I have an Impreza, Disco V8, LR 90 all insured through them and all modified and they have had no problems with any of them. I also got a quote for SIII V8 conversion from them that was the same price as my 2.5 petrol 90 (£100ish). AS above lift kits (which I don't have) seem to be one thing that really scares insurers.

I've had a slight change of plan based on the planned usage in a few years time, so I'll probably be looking at fewer modifications, and those I do will be more along the lines of extra fuel tanks, etc. smile

NFU modification friendly?????!!!!!!!

Must be just your branch then, mine certainly arent. They insure my L200,Navara and my 90 with no problems except I got stung on the 90 insurance. But my modified Series 3 and modified 200sx they didnt want to know! Quoted me standard insurance (which was very high)then when I mentioned modified they said 50% extra at least. Needless to say my 200sx and series 3 are insured elsewhere.

I'm only 26 with a Td4 Freelander Sport soon to be lifted 2" with braded hoses and a few other offroady / greenlaney nits.

I found footmsn james and adrian flux coming in at just over £400 inc mods compared to £600 + from confuseled etc.

I think mentioning the landrover mag you get the number from and the owners club you belong to makes a fair difference too!! as you go from being a lad who wants to dick about to being an enthusiast who is a much safer insurance risk :O) ?

I know a friend of a friend who converted a V8 90 (carb model) and it cost him a few hundred quid (rather than a couple of grand charged by dealers). I think he may have had to pay to have the final set-up done, but he adjusted it by trial and error until he got it just right. he said that the conversion was not too difficult. I don't know where he got the kit from, however.
