trying to install a ipod thingy (harman/kardon drive + play) i was wondering if anyone knew a way of removing the oem head unit without using the metal keys? (i dont have the keys)

is it possible to do this without butchering the dash ?

Some stiff wire thin enough to fit in the slots, bent 90° at the ends should do the trick (grind down some coat hanger perhaps).

Or 90° mini picks,dental picks.

well, went to halfrauds, they sold me the wrong thing, didnt have the right one in stock.

so went to another car place that do audio stuff "we dont have the one you need in stock but lets have a look at it and see if we can do it for you"

nope.

said to go to another place but with it being sunday ill have to try them tomorrow.

going to just get the other place to install it all for me and be done with it.

Oh that system transmits the signal(fm modulator) so you tune the radio to its output, it does have line out but your unit doesnt have line in !

yeah thats what 2 car audio places said.

do you know of any way you can split the line in from the play and drive to the correct bus teminals on the back of the head unit?

otherwise ill have to try and put a supressor on it to stop the quiet interferance you get on the fm modulators (i had a dennison ice link on the 911 and that used to have a tiny bit of feedback when the music was quiet, im trying to avoid that really)

thanks in advance.

P.S. its going in tomorrow morning to be done.

You could select cd and have the ipod sound, but the autochanger would have to be connected and playing. Or go to tape but the same again. I will look into it as i have a few Radios kicking around !!
