I have averaged 24.1 over the last 9000 miles on my TDV8, mixed driving and on the whole pretty brisk. Same driving on my old BMW4.4 engined one gave 17.3.

I have to say I feel no loss of performance, indeed I prefer the driving experience in the diesel as the torque just whoooshes it out of corners with very little drama, and it's so quiet. Great at covering the ground in a sort of fast and wafty way and the increase in range is very useful too, another 150 miles or so out of the 100 litre tank.

Cracking vehiclesmile
One of the great cars on sale today, period. It has just about every base covered, literally.

It's deisel characteristics were well concealed, from my limited exposure's recollections and as a back seat passenger, there was a most emphatic rort from the zorst during pressage.

Yup, just brilliant.

The only issue I have with the TDV8 is the fuel. I'm not going all Clarkson, it's just that when you need to fill up, you get back into your 70k wagon stinking of the slimy stuff.
We've very recently sold my good lady's TD4 and quite honestly, it was a relief knowing that there would be no more visits to the black pump.
The plastic gloves (if you can find them) help a touch, but they're not a 100% solution. In the olden days ( hehe ) there used to be a man in overalls who'd fill the car up without the need for leaving the driving seat......sigh.

As a sixteen year old I was that man in overalls.
You got your windows, lights and levels done.

having put 1000 miles on my 4.6 now, you're not too far away, I've averaged 10.8 over that time.
Mostly B road blasting - surprising how fast the 4.6 accelerates in sport mode.

Good grief! This all makes me feel so much better smile I averaged 22.4 on the way back from work this evening (25 miles of Motorway, 5 miles of B road, 2 miles of stop / start traffic through Newbury).

I don't drive it that hard, but I certainly don't hang around either (85 / 90 on the Mway, 65 / 70 on the A road....

I hit an all-time high / low ??? tonight

had a 27 mile blast down mainly country lanes with 6 miles of B road to finish
I'd just filled the tank and reset the computer before I started.

Average over that distance........ 7.1mpg

Do I win an award??
