O/H bought Disco 3 about 18 months ago with about 20,000miles on the clock. As soon as he got it things started to go wrong. We had problems with electrics (lights, alarm, central locking) suspension, etc etc. After a month or so we returned it for a full refund.
O/H is now looking for another motor and is tempted by a full fat Range Rover....however, in light of the nightmare time we had with the Disco we are in two minds as to the reliability of Land Rovers in general.
So, over to you...if you own a Range Rover or Disco 3, what have been your experiences in terms of reliability? Should we give them another chance? Were we unlucky? Did he just buy a dud?

Thanks in advance.

Have an 07 Disco 3. Great car and no complaints re reliability. I think the earlier 05s etc had a few issues but generally they seem robust. The Disco3 forum isnt full of problem car issues.
The RRs are expensive to run and unless you are buying relatively new are likely to bring pain and misery (if you are unlucky).

Bought a brand new 08.5My Disco 3. Love it, heard about the issues on the old cars, but this thing is the biz-niz. 4k miles so far and no issues.

I would avoid the early models on any make of car. They all take time to bed in.

The FFRR is a lovely bit of kit, but the engines are dated now. You really need the TDV8, but for the money you can buy a brand new D3 and still keep £20k in the bank!

I have an 04 V8 Vogue & it is the most sublime car to drive on or off road. Having had it for the past 6 months with no issues, I really can't imagine going back to a normal car (although I do also have an Audi S4 to play in if I need some proper speed!)
