OP. Did you try and contact the Challenger Owners Club recently? They would have a great deal of interest in such a project and have a number of contacts for persons wishing to acquire such a car. They also have wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for something similar. I might add that there could be a few members that might be interested in investing.

As a challenger owner, I'm very keen to see this progress. I'm around 9 years into restoring mine, but slow progress is being made

There was/is a company called Zelia, who built lightweight replicas from a composite, using jaguar mechanicals, I think the tub was original steel, but bonnet, doors, hardtop, backend rear wings and boot were all composite.

I don't know if they are still in business, I hope so because the owner Brian is a good engineer and a nice chap ( for a kiwi)

Sooo... of all those companies that bravely set out to make replica E-Types... how many are still in business?

Did anyone see Fifth Gear going on about 'Resto-modding' (restoring and modifying)? It's a big thing in the US apparently. Perhaps the OP may be better looking down that route as a less risky option first?

You may need to consider the legal aspect of making a replica - Jaguar may not take kindly to someone producing kit versions. Lamborghini have done it in the US and Caterham threatened Westfield with legal action which meant they had to change the design.

The numbers don't quite add up for me. I can't claim to be an expert but I can't see how a "good" standard E-Type replica could be completed for £15k.

Nor am I an expert in what restoration project E-Types cost to buy and restore, but ultimately, this is your competition.

There will be a point in time when the cost of E-Types gets high enough to justify a replica market, just not sure we're there yet.

Not that I have £50k to invest anyway!!!!

Ah! After spotting Mr StrangeGTs question, it seems superfluous to ask my question but nevertheless.
After a flurry of activity from the first statement by beneteau1, we seem no further into what I hoped would be a saga of success. However I would point out that the Wildcat E type replica went under despite being an excellent kit and the Challenger, a more Jaguar based car, underwent several owner changes and we also have the Eagle Company who make / modify the top end E-Types. So I am left wondering where Mr beneteau1 has gone or if he has been frightened away for some unknown reason?
It would have been nice to see Beneteau1’s portfolio of work on a web site, or pictures of work already undertaken in terms of glass fibre, chassis construction and generally items listed in his text and how his quest for filthy lucre has advanced.
Has he carried out a survey of requirements, does he have a business plan/ If our going to put an ad in for money that raises the hairs on the back of the neck of anyone with true Duckhams running through their veins. They want to know a bit more about beni’s company as we don’t even know the name of his Co to check it out...
There were a lot of enquires from the USA regarding the purchase of the Wildcat kit car moulds but none came to fruition and I wonder if this is yet another pipe dream thought up over a pint in the local pub?
Can we have an update please?

3 posts in 4 months. I suspect he's long gone. Shame really though as I'd like to have seen what he did too.

Was there ever any further developments with regards to this project? Given that it is an old thread and that the OP only ever made three posts on PH I suspect it went nowhere, but I am intrigued as to the line up they had in their original group of four.

Hi all, I came across this conversation and I have some interest due to me buying the wildcat moulds and jigs in 2016. I’ll get back to the forum soon, to give you an idea of the future plans. Just a quick teaser ( corvette base).

Our target is for the customer to be able to have a completed car to a good standard for around a £15k budget.

A completed E-type replica for only £15,000 ?
Seems very low.

Do you know how much a GT40 replica costs to complete?
One version of those was also produced in Dorset, but that project did not end well.

I know this is an old thread, but surely this could be done as a completed shell to drop onto a brand new MX5 chassis.
