Provision of accommodation to an employee will normally result in the employee being taxed under the Benefit in Kind rules. The main exception would be if the accommodation was an intrinsic and NECESSARY part of the employment i.e. lighthouse keeper, pub landlord, in-house security guard, teacher at a boarding school etc.
