Hello

I don't really know anybody who uses Shopify and would like to know their experience
using this, also the monthly payments with the fees.

Would it be possible to help me by sharing your experience and are
their any hidden/fixed fees to look out for?

Thank you

(Apologies if this has already been posted)

I use it quite a bit. It's very simple to use, but there is some flaws at a fairly low level IMHO. If you only have a few products, then crack on, but if you want something to handle a large amount of products/lines, or want future scalability, I'd probably go with Magento or Opencart from the get-go.

We use Shopify, it's great if you have no idea what you're doing when starting up because it's so simple. If you've only got a few products and you've building a website yourself it's great. We've never had any server issues or gateway issues of any kind.

The only downside is that it's pretty limited, and that's where it can become expensive with apps for additional content which really should be part of the package for the get go.

look also at BigCommerce - they tend to be the two best entry routes into eCommerce

I would echo what's been said here about using Shopify for simple Vs complex sites and product ranges.

I had a bad experience with it for a big complex site, where a client wanted lots of bespoke features and bit of design. Lots of complex products too. The project left a bad taste in the mouth and I felt like I never wanted to hear the name Shopify again.

However, for a recent project I've actually ended up using it again and found it to be brilliant. It's for a site with a small range of simple products and the speed I was able to get a good looking site ready very quickly was impressive. We used a theme from the official theme store.

Another thing I'd say is that I've found their support to be excellent - the online chat is great and I've never not been able to get queries answered and dealt with right away.

Thank you guys for sharing your experiences. Just what I was looking for.
I would be using it for selling a few products and won't be dealing
with anything to complex.

I notice there is quite a variety of apps and add on's etc... I will have to look into that a bit more
and look into pricing. I have come across where developers can build it for you from
£500 to £3000 but as many of you said its easy to build myself I would rather do this
if I can get it to how I want it to look. I can't wait to have a go at it.

Thank you

I recently found a website called wix, I think it's great, there's a lot of customisation available and it's pretty easy to get along with. It's a good price too!
