Skip every course, forum, etc, and just go to Jon Loomers website and read for a few weeks. Everything worth it's salt when it comes to FB ads originates from his website.

I work in the family building business and have often wondered how to generate more leads/opportunities. Does Facebook work for projects that are say £100k and up? We have a good customer base and often get repeat custom and reversals, so getting references is not a problem, neither are photos!

It's ultimately all about ROI. How much can you afford to get a £100k project?

Well we currently spend very little and still get the projects, however if it means spending £100-300 to 100% get one then why not? I'd say we currently spend £1500 a year on advertising that includes van wraps. We do have a photographer who takes pictures of completed projects for us as we can see it clearly benefits us!

Is there a Jon Loomer equivalent that advises mainly on local business type facebook marketing? I find Jon Loomer's stuff very interesting but most of it seems tailored to online businesses rather than smaller bricks and mortar businesses.

Gary Vaynerchuk aka Gary Vee has lots of useful stuff.
