Hiya guys. Been wanting to get into track days for ages but that's another story.

My brother is getting married in October and hes mad on cars and for some stupid reasons Micras.

I've got a 1.4 Micra K11 and will buy another.

Brands Hatch is local but seems expensive. Castle Combe is £170 for the day then £25 per extra driver. So the plan would be two cars. Two in each and swap and change.

Basically I'm planing on gutting the Micras out. Possible fitting some bucket seats, putting some slightly wider 15's on, Toyo T1Rs on both and some Primera brakes.

Straight through exhaust, cheap back box for the novelty and sticking a DIY cold air intake on.

I run two garages so shouldn't be a problem!

My questions are what advice can you track day'ers give?

I'd love to carry on with track days but the Micras have only got to last the day!

No silencing will be too loud for Combe, plus multi novice drivers sound like you guys will be a liability.

Proper trackday isn't really what you want, have a look at the lydden hill events, far more that sort of style.

This. Most trackdayers invest a large amount of time and money in their cars and days, so tend to drive accordingly. There will still be a couple of knobs on any trackday, but they tend to be knobs in all aspects of life, so it has to be expected and are easily avoided.

Having a group of lads who have absolutely nothing invested in the day other than having a laugh sounds like a recipe for disaster, especially when running 2 identical cars. Would be pretty hard for you to not be racing each other presented with the circumstances you're proposing.

Definitely get into trackdays with your brother, but do it properly. How about a sprint event for the stag do? You get to compete with each other without fear of being thrown off the track or taking someone else out.

This one's not convenient for you, but I'm sure there are others available - http://www.mazdaontrack.co.uk/sprint-club-99-c.asp

Some powerful go karts would surely be much more fun, then you can actually race each other.

You plan to do all this work, and possibly the cars only last a day? What a waste of time. You'd be better off karting, or banger rallying across into Europe or something.

Thruxton has a great karting circuit.
