Camera us at track days

I noticed in the last couple of years, the tracks I've been to aren't demanding that footage is not posted on line. Previously had to sign a form saying you had to pay £100k if films uploaded to youtube etc.

Over the last 6+ years I've been to Silverstone, Donington, Cadwell, Rockingham, Blyton, Anglesey and the 'Ring. None of them have said not to post footage online. Some things you read about the 'Ring can be a bit funny about it, and Rockingham make you pre-sign a form to use a camera, but that's it - never seen anything about having to pay them for permission to upload it.

Rockingham still make you sign a disclaimer about not using any footage for profit etc, but it's not very clear exactly what they're restricting and there's tons of footage on YT now. Never seen that sort of restriction anywhere else.

When we compete at Hethel we are told NO video to be recorded on track or photographs of the track but you are allowed to take pictures of yourselves and your car in the paddock. Also no photography around the site and of the abandoned Lotus dotted about, , which if you have been there would know can be heartbreaking 😩

I think that track organisers worked out a while back that free advertising is better than just word of mouth or paid advertising- essentially it makes their product more viable when people see videos of normal cars and drivers having fan and realise it's not out of reach.

I applaud this personally and use other people's track videos to help me learn a circuit before I partake
