I know of someone who is ordering huge amounts of branded goods from legit UK retailers, paying full UK retail price (plus delivery) for them and then shipping it all to Vietnam.

It's not just one specific niche type of item either, we're talking clothing, footwear, cosmetics, perfumes, household goods, tech... pretty much anything.

How can they be making a profit doing this? Is Vietnam mega expensive? Or are they likely to be doing something illegal? (And if so what?)

Branded trainers cost more in Vietnam than the U.K. surprisingly even when they're made there. I think it's mainly down to tax.

It's pretty normal

I have loads of Far Eastern customers who regularly ship large amounts of designer goods to China/Vietnam/Taiwan etc. I asked one once what the crack was, it's a mix of the demand for quality European goods, the high cost said goods in the Far East and the amount of fakes found in the Far East, apparently it's common to buy an item and return a very good fake item. a typical box i collect would be £7-£10k worth or clothing etc.
