You are paid to drive / travel to a location and see if (for example) a poster has been put up, a store has had its promotion decoration fitted correctly, road markings comply with the spec you are given, a fence is the correct height and length.

There is one site / company that offers "mum snoops" to large companies and for the life of me I cannot find it.

Reason I ask is for a friend of mine who has lost a lot of confidence and I think going on (not secret) missions would be a great way to get him "working" in every sense of the word

Missus says that's part of tactical field work, most likely a compliance role. Search for agencies nearby, there'll be a few.
