Not sure if anyone has any experience of this but here goes.

I may be looking for new premises to relocate my business to. I have very little free time as there is too much other stuff going on business-wise and with life in general to put the time in myself.

I'm thinking of asking a friend who is semi-retired and who I know has the spare time and experience to do it for me but I have no idea what to offer to pay. The best plan I can come up with is perhaps a fee based on the rent I'd be paying on the property (or the purchase price if I bought it) but what level of fee? I'm not interested in getting it done for next to nowt and am happy to pay a reasonable fee. Just don't know what that should be.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Save your money.

I would simply register your requirements with the usual suspects and let them come to you with options. You may have some local agents (which you will find on google in minutes) but the main players are usually the likes of knight frank, cbre etc.

Just in the process of doing this for a new office. We are using a local chartered surveyor who offers this service as consultancy.

I am extremely glad we chose to go this way as he has run the whole deal from start to finish and it would have been a nightmare to do it ourselves. We have far better things to be doing than worrying about who paints the new toilets.

We are paying ~5% of Y1 rent for this service and it would have been cheap at twice the price
