I don't know if I should start a new thread or not but....

Any accountants fancy doing my tax returns for me, and how much do you charge ??

I'm PAYE but have had a few reantal places recently, paperwork in quite shoking order but I'd organise that

Need to get 3 years done (long story)

Likewise, I had one when was contracting, but I'm guessing I don't need quite such a clever (read devious and expensive) one now

Anyone know any PHers I could have a chat with about it

Localish (Sussex) would be preferable

Quote from paper today (Sun!)

Euro war on expenses:

Brussels chiefs are demanding hte 'gravy training' Euro MPs accompany their expenses claims with RECEIPTS.
At the moment that are allowed to pocket thousands in first-class travel expenses even if they cycle to meetings!
In future they may only be reimbursed for what they spent.

I could scream! Would I be able to make up a load of b/sh1t expenses and put nothing more than notes in my accounts? I'd be hung drawn and qtr'd.

A few years ago I acted as a consultant to the European Commission, along with hundreds of other advisors. I was shocked to discover that no receipts were required to claim back my costs - both travelling and (5 star) hotel bills. After a while I noticed that some people would bring their entire families over to Brussels for the weekend (a mini-holiday, if you like). It's my best guess that the tax-payer would have funded these little jaunts. Totally disgraceful in my view. They would also treat us to lavish dinners and the like, and then they'd complain about a lack of funding for their various projects. It made my blood boil.
