I appreciate what the govt were doing with the grants, just when it got to local level it fell apart a bit. I imagine, like a lot of us here, we’ve all had serious hits in the past and muddled through and I could and would have done the same again now - but it’s nice to feel like some help has been dished out.

We have applied for the Business Rates Grant with Gateshead Council and we manufacture windows and have a showroom on site from which the public come in and purchase our goods but got rejected as we are not retail?

Seems unfair as we employ 16 people and may over 20k in rates p/a for the past 15 years.

That sounds wrong unless your RV is over 51000

They are going on your property description from the VO

You need to contact them ASAP explain that the public are and do come into the showromm to purchase items

if you have a website that says this then give them the link to that.

Find the councillor for the ward your business is in and contact them as well...making sure you mention the people you employ

I rent a few commercial premises all bar one in Glasgow. Some have got their ratepayer grant, others are undergoing 'torture by paperwork', one being ignored. My one commercial tenant in South Lanarkshire is just being completely blanked.

I still haven't received mine for a business which gets full sbrr having applied on 17th April. I even sent and enquiry email with a copy of my application a week ago to see if they'd lost it but I've not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement nor a reply.

As mentioned above. Contact your councillor to complain.

They use the same system as my lot. So it should be straightforward

We are handing it over to the business development team.

Reason is we do not have enough knowledge of the unrated or shared usage properties.

I will be providing data on possible bed and breakfast places and normal businesses i suspect.

They we link up with planning licensing to get a better oicture.

Rumour control suggests london councils are trying to create a scheme so all london councils do the same.

As ever the Govt have given us something half baked and put the onus on councils to deal with detail as well as be blamed for any cock ups and delays along the way.

If i hear something concrete i will share it.

No worries

Just been asked to provide a list of properties getting enhanced retail relief (inc hospitality etc) where rv is between 51001 and 55000 and 55001 and 60000k (200ish properties)

we have just over £3 million to disburse

Think to get grant they will need to prove they have lost money due to CV19

Personally I would have liked offices with RV's between 15001 and 51k get something (again if loosing income) as companies will still have outgoings to pay out

Just a talking point at the moment though
