I think this is a common issue, with a slight twist in this case.

Can't be sure the two are linked, but since the most recent update, my phone doesn't seem to recognise my Apple battery case. I can charge them separately, but the case won't charge the phone now. It has also stopped showing the amount of charge the case has in widgets. I've tried all the usual nonsense short of a full on hard reset, to no avail. I'm fairly sure that battery life on the phone is suffering too, down to 6% from fully charged last night with little use.

Fairly quick update to this. 10 mins after posting the op, my 10 month old phone suffered complete shutdown from 93% battery and wouldn't restart. I'm on holiday in Norfolk, helpfully. It's on a Vodafone contract, I went to the shop in Norwich and they couldn't get it going either. Fortunately the Apple shop is directly above them in the precinct, made an appointment, was seen early, they confirmed it's dead from total circuit failure after performing an autopsy. Replaced free with a brand new one.

So I'm back at the cottage now waiting for the new replacement to perform an update to OSX14.4.2........something I think has contributed to the demise of the last phone. I await the update with something less than high expectations.

I’ve been running a beta version of 14.5 quite happily for a while now, albeit on an iPhone X - looks like the official release of 14.5 is out as well, having just looked in Settings>General>Software Update

iOS 14.4.2 has bricked my 2week old works iPhone SE (2020) ... Apple are looking into it apparently as its an MDM issue and has happened quite prolifically with iOS 13 and other iPhones previously with no known solution.

Yeah, I think they are seeding it to devs and beta testers ahead of the official release next week.

Not sure - Oracle Duo is our 2FA so would expect it to be linked to that somehow

Next issue.....I retrieved the contacts on the sim, but am struggling with the rest, of which there are many. Also, I assume texts are gone for good? No big deal if so.

I'm trying to get into my old Android phone to synch the contacts from that, but, despite the home screen appearing that appears to have become frozen while not having been used this past 10 months and is so far unresponsive to the swipe to unlock procedure, or any other known methods to get into it. It unexpectedly still registered as having 18% charge after all this time!

I've looked at icloud.com and got into my backed up contacts, but for whatever reason it has only stored those on the sim.
