Hi all,

Has anyone got any advice or had direct dealings securing investment into a new business adventure?

My company is a fully operatonal fully compliant mobile app football social betting platform. We only launched fully within this year and I am now looking at ways to accelorate the growth.

We are ideally looking at investors for both capital and experience in the mobile betting market....

We have a unique product and one which gets lots of interest and positive feedback, but like with everything getting some experienced investors onboard would open up a whole host of doors for us.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Matt

there are many ways of getting investment - depending on your business, and the amount needed.

so many unanswered questions in your post:
- what scale of investment do you need?
- are you live in the market now
- what are financials looking like currently / predicted
- do you have skin in the game (i.e. have you invested your own money)
- have you already got investment - if so, does it have priority in re-investing / can it influence a new round of investment?

Probably your best approach is to look at who the players are in your market - are there people who have done something similar and then exited their company / people in parallel industries who may like the overlap? If you can find such a person, then you can use them as a mentor / advisor to help you gain investment - even someone else who has successfully taken an app to market?

the method of finding cash / people is totally different at the new business / need £50k level - v. - the more cohesive business with an established footprint / prior family & friends investment and a growing order book...

investment usually sits in several categories:
< £50k - family & friends
£50k - £100k - grants / R&D / inital external investors - e.g. Angels who might wish to contrlbute as well as invest
£100k - £250k / £500k - equity gap funding - the big boys don't play here as there is not enough return, and the smaller investors can't risk losing such large sums. Historically there have been government and EU efforts to plug the gap, but not easy to find investment here...
£500k+ - often £1-2 million as if you are doing the due diligence you might as well invest more...

sure - it differs for every group of investors / companies needing investment, but helpful to start to think about what you need and who might be able to help

Good answer! Also consider JV's with who you may initially suspect to be a competitor and/or people/firms in your verticals? Money talks. Good luck with the new venture!

Hi - yes i did.... I had a reasonable topic covering the time from when SoccerPots was looking for marketing (pre launch).. to getting the first batch of BETA users on board (I think a few of you from here signed up) to getting it out there to the public....

I was a little too zelous with the some of the promotions i was running on here and the topic was removed ... understandable laugh

We have grown a little since and getting lots of traction from the Euros and from local football teams whos are using the app to help raise funds for thier football clubs.. so I'm really pleased...

We are ready for a growth spurt now though and I'm looking into ways to get this moving.... and investment will help a great deal.

Cheers Nunners
