Hi everyone,

I have been a very infrequent poster over the years I have been browsing these forums, but I feel now is the time to ask for some advice from this knowledgeable and diverse community.

I set up my own company last year offering consultancy services in the fields of CFD (using CFX for those of you in the know) and aerodynamics. Whilst I have a good chunk of work to be getting on with I feel now is the time to extend my contacts list for the future.

Hence I would be grateful if any fellow Pistonheader who knows anyone interested in these fields, or who has considered using CFD in varying disciplines (for example electronics cooling, hydraulics etc.), and would not mind me getting in touch with them for a brief chat, to reply to this or drop me a private mail through my profile.

Many thanks,

Lee.

How much do you charge for a full CFD assesment of a whole vehicle?

What do you want from the simulation - a simple idea of flow patterns, more realistic lift and drag figures, engine bay flows, brake cooling, straight line or crosswind simulation, an idea of transient behaviour and wind noise?

All these effect how the models are built, how much CPU time is required to solve, and therefore cost. What form and quality of CAD information is also available?

Automotive full vehicle simulations are notoriously difficult due to the physics involved, especially around the wheels and in the wake. Even what appears to be a simple model at the outset can turn into a complex and expensive modelling exercise.

If you can provide a few more details I can provide a better idea of what the cost would be.

Lee.
