If only it was like in the adverts.

I received a leaflet with my statement last month about a new savings account for business.

Looked useful so I followed the instructions and went to the website.

Quite impressed to see that I could open this online so spent 15 minutes one Sunday evening doing just that. At the end of the form filling it said "Thanks, your branch will contact you to finalise matters"

Nothing happened.

Rang the business line. Helpful person said it was my branch who would deal with it and put me through to my branch.

My branch answered and said they couldn't help as they were not my branch, but Branch Support and that my business manager was the person to speak to. I politely pointed out that I'd been put through to them because I was told they could help me. He said he couldn't.

Rang my business manager and spoke to a very curt young woman. "I'm not sure you can open those accounts online" she tells me. I politely tell her that I did just that last week.

She'll look into it and call me back she says, repeating that she's not sure that they can be opened online. I carry on explaining the process that I went through only to find she's cut me off!!!!

They're all the same.

I wonder what it'd take to start up a co-operative style building society for business users?

Everyone ... when you get home tonight, check down the back of the sofa and let's see what we can come up with.

They just called me back and put the phone down when I picked up.

Then they called again and the girl on the other end was talking to a colleague telling her "please is the word you want", obviously not realising I had already picked up.

Apparently whatever form I filled in online hasn't been logged and because I didn't keep the reference number I've now got to fill in a paper form anyway!

Sooooooooo unprofessional!

That is breathtakingly rude!

Plus, i am not convinced your application wasn't logged.
Or that you needed to record a reference number.
Not been my experience and i have opened loads of accounts on-line

Personally, i would phone back pdq and ask to speak to the line manager, insisting that this is rectified before the close of banking.

Stand your ground with these inefficient, rude people and get an apology

Been there, done that before. They send you a bottle of wine.

I'll only get more angry. As long as the form turns up I'll use that.

Still tempted to move banks but they all seem crap.

If it is the same bank I am thinking of, it doesn't give you an online reference number.

I find the only way to keep the useless t**sers on their toes is to threaten to move. I was with 'my bank' and wouldn't give them the time of day

I'm with *my bank* and they rock! my business manager is great, the staff are the friendliest and most helpful I've ever had in a bank.

Looking at the other posts though it appears to be the exception rather than the rule ..

How close to the wind will this thread sale before it comes under *naming and shaming*

When I applied for my business account with them online I got a 'thank you for your application' letter and then nothing.

When I phoned up to check on progress (the number for their internet application team is permanently engaged) I got passed around like you before eventually being told in a matter of fact fashion that the application had probably been lost and I should just apply again.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt in this case but this kind of situation doesn't seem to be rare.

On the whole I'm happy with them as they are good to me and the staff I deal with are top notch, but their admin side of things is very poor.

3 Weeks ago I decided to change bank for the business.

Was with Abbey National for free banking but, as you get what you pay for, got nothing.

I called 5 banks new business lines, Nat West, Barclays, HSBC, Allied Irish and for a laugh Coutts.(told them all we are a £500k turn over expanding business)

All but one said they were busy and someone would call me back. I am still waiting for the calls 3 weeks on.

One put me straight through to a business banker, who made an appointment to come and see me there and then for 2 days later.

Up shot is we now bank with Coutts, account opened last Friday just waiting for the cheque book, paying in book and cards.

You should phone them all back (except Coutts of course) and see if you can get through to them now.
If you do, go through the rigmaroll and then drop it upon them that had they been like this 3 weeks previous or bothered to call back in the timeframe since, they could very well be your bank, but they blew it.
