We are only a small company with 8 employees and around twenty drivers, we work for mainly large National and International companies doing their sameday deliveries.

Lately it seems that these companies have nothing better to do than set us more and more complicated paperwork exercises to carry out!

It started off as the ISO 9002 malarky (we had it then chucked it because it was meaningless) then internal compliance questionnaires, then Health and safety policies, equality policies, and so on.

It has now progressed to "environmental Policies" where they want us to evaluate our environmental footprint per job undertaken and evaluate out use of Planet Saving vehicles (most of which we have tried and discarded).

The latest is a "Disaster Contingency Policy Document" this should cover all means of potential damage to the company, now I can see the point of having some procedures in place to prevent Data Loss and to allow continued training but we are a Couriers for God's sake not ICI!

Anyway thank god for ****** district council and their contingency plan which suddenly appeared on my PC got converted to a Word Document, edited and now is proudly displayed in our office!

It's funny how many of these things get recycled, very enviromentally friendly, with only slight changes to them (Like company name, address and who signed it ) I have read many 'Policies' that are very similar over the years.
