Chaps, had this and it all seemed to go well apart from one thing

I fudged the in tray up, I didnt understand exactly what the time limit was, I thought I had the slot allocated 90 minutes and not the 50 in the scenario. Sounds stupid now, it was the first exercise! Got lots of the work done, and the prioritising for them done in my drafts, but only one of four written up. Bollocks!!! I told the assesor at the time. Really pissed off that it could well cost me it.

Do you think that is too big a mistake to get away with?

I lost my RBS job due to the In-Tray, as did my friend going for a HR role. It really depends what role your going for what emphasis they place on it, for instance at a grad centre for HBOS i didn't get the role, but they've invited me back for another role as they feel i'm more suited to it. Either way, don't worry too much - i kinda thought with the RBS one that i was bound to an intray excersize up the first time i got to it, so at least i won't do it again now - it's all a learning experience.

Good luck chap,
Rob.

After the censored day I've had mate, you don't want to work for that particular company anyway! hehe

Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it.

I had a similar thing with an assessment centre whereby I didnt complete the intray task. Still got through though.

I always feel like that about Assesment Days though, i never want it until i get there and then i really do - remember a big part of the day for them is making sure you want to work there so you don't accept an offer somewhere else!

Cheers,
Rob.

Don't worry too much about it. You won't have lost too much providing your responses to what you did do were ok. Without knowing the company/marking scheme/competencies its impossible to say what they will think.

You did your best, chalk it up to experience and see what happens.
