New venture business plan

I'm about to embark on a new venture, a foray into self employment. To secure financial backing I require a Business plan, however, never having encountered such an animal, I have little to go on. Has anyone got advice to offer?

Local Enterprise office. These are the people who used to administer the 'Enterprise Allowance'(when I was a lad!). If you ask the numpties at the local nojobcentre they could point you in the right direction

Well Dirk, if you've never encounted a business plan are you sure your ready to through yourself to the wolves. Get professional advice, any bank or local inland revenue office will help you at no charge.

Maybe I could have worded that a little better. Take Two.
It's the layout, rather than the content that I'm lacking, the Jobless centre is not a place I've ever frequented so I hadn't thought of that, the Enterprise allowance scheme may also be worth looking into, although I was planning on going it as alone as possible. I already have some capital, but was planning on presenting my bank manager with this business plan as supporting evedence.
