Shipping from China by container???
Discussion
Few years since I was involved but at the time weight was not an issue, but if it lands and is over weight for transport then you will lose loads of money!
Price was the same for a 40' or 45' and a little cheaper for a 20'.
Best advice - get a good shipping agent.
Sorry couldn't be more help.

Be aware that with sea freight, to empty a groupage container will cost a lot, lot more than to simply bring the container off the vessel and have it delivered. IIRC cost of container handling is £85, cost of unloading etc is about £39 per cubic metre, and can be much higher. You have to check with your clearing agent. Cartage will probably not cost that much more for the entire container IME.
My employers are now getting containers from China on a regular basis.
If it's any help we say - make sure that you use the port nearest to you, there's little or no difference in the seafreight but roadfreight can be double.
Make sure you get your paperwork in order to clear the port and customs as quick as you can Demurrage is highway robbery and lately most container providers will keep clocking it until the empty box is back at the port!
